My Weekend Finds!

Hi Bloggerettes!  I am still in awe of all the wonderful creative spaces that were featured in Karen's My Desert Cottage, Where Bloggers Create.  I feel like I know so many of you so much better.  There is something about stepping into someone's private space that gives you a sense of who they are and their passions.  Thanks to Karen for creating this meme and thanks to all of you for the invitations.

Well, off to my finds of the week.  At my first yardsale I spied this
gorgeous embroidered work from a mile away!  I think my heart started racing!

The owner told me that it was made my her Mom in the 1940's.
Look at the beautiful work and the best part.....it's pink flamingos!

Found this sweet vintage basket at an estate sale.  Love it!

Made this flip flop fabric into a pillow.
Looks summery, don't you think?

Okay, now it's time to see what you found or made this weekend.
You will find lots of good stuff there.

hope to see you there!

~~hugs~~

I love the vintage basket, its so pretty. It looks to be in perfect condition as well. I almost bought a basket at the Sunday boot fair as well, but it was too expensive. In the end I spent the money ( and more, lol ) on some fab antique paper goodies.

You find the neatest things Sissie! The flamingo stitchery is adorable . . . and if it has both sides embroidered you can make a matching pillow!
I found some souvenier glassware and think there is a Floria with a flamingo. Must go check!
I love your ferny pillow and your creative space is totally inspiring!! You creative ladies have such fun places to work! I think if I started organizing NOW I could have mine presentable for next year . . .. NOT KIDDING HA!!
Thanks for always bringing me a smile with my visit at Sissies Place!
Hugs,
Lynn

Flamingos? Did you know I'm passionate about flamingos? I even designed flamingo shoes for my zazzle store. Where I lived in Florida you could occasionally see a pair flying together. Did you know they mate for life? And, of course, I have a set of plastic flamingos in my yard. I mean their pink birds, what's not to love?

Oh, and I like the other stuff too, lol.

Love that flamingos linen piece; really in beautiful condition, and I'm so glad there weren't any snakes hiding in that cute basket. But then again, you'd just "charm" them. te he!

OMG Sissy you found the find of the year. Even with my back hurting I would have done cartwheels to get to that piece. hahahaha
Can not imagine finding something like that in a garage sale. Good gosh I live in the wrong place but of course I have not been gargae saleing in months. All the vendors buy the stuff up before anyone can get to them.
Thanks for the get well wishes. I am praying and praying this will be over soon.
Loved my visit over here

OMG you lucky duck! I love the pink flamingo embroidery you found. It's exactly the kind of thing I'm always looking for as gifts for my mom. She LOVES pink flamingos (and not the cheesy plastic ones with vacuum formed leis) but the pretty ones that show some taste, just like that gorgeous vintage goody you found. I'm so jealous. Love your space, thanks for sharing.

Ah..Sissy, I'm in love with that basket! It's beautiful! Love the gorgeous embroidered piece..I too hunt them down like crazy.

Thanks for popping over recently! I love it when you visit. I've lost my good sense lately and have soldered everything I can get my hands on. It's truly an addictive process.

Oh..and thank you for such a sweet compliment on the pieces you've already seen. I think it was the Angels you commented on. Truly my most favorite pieces so far.

I'm off for now..take care sweet lady!

Hey my sweet Sissie Girl,
Love the flamingos, they look perfect in your vignettes. That basket took me back thru time, my Mom had one exactly like that she kept her knitting in it. Love the flip flops too, very cheerful. I'm off to PC, will be back soon. See my blog, I've got news! Lisa

it's really amazing that people would actually part with their own mother's hand embroidered work! you'd think that would be such a sentimental thing to want to hold on to, right!

and your other finds..the basket..and flop pillow....you did such a nice job!

I have a thing for baskets..I always think of how hard someone must have worked to make them..and to find an old on in tact WITH the lid still with it...is just so neat.
Everything you have, no matter what it is, you have the ability to make it look like something...I REALLY need! lol
Now...that's a very special ability!
Great finds~!

What a beautiful pillowcase. I have some old ones I use on my bed and they are beginning to wear out. I need to learn how to embroider my own! Sweet basket you found and the pillow is lots of fun too!

I love the flamingos! The color is still so vivid too, it must not have been in the sun. The basket and pillow are sweet, and your burlap runner is very pretty. You always give us such great eye candy :-)
