Things I Love to Collect

Hi Bloggerettes!  I love vintage Christmas ball ornaments and if I find them in pink, I grab them up!  This is my collection so far....

I started collecting these Lenox pieces several years ago.
Check out the teacup merry-go-round...
And this piece with the little Santa railroad.
Both pieces are musical.

I love these twisty bottle brush trees.  They remind me of
Dr. Seuss's Grinch.  I want some of them.
Gabby says.....Be sure and do a pink tree Mommie.

So, what do you collect?  Do you buy new ornaments every year, swearing the year before that you wouldn't?????

~~hugs~~

Sissie, I'm guilty too! I always buy something new every year; I can't help myself! Every time I see something made of mercury glass, I snatch it up! Where am I going to put it all? I LOVE your Lennox ornaments and you've got me swooning here! I adore villages and I adore teacups, so...Gorgeous collection! Your header looks very pretty and festive!

I collect vintage ornaments. Last year I realized that I had a lot of pink and aqua ornaments - no surprise there. I love the patina of vintage ornaments. I have some that might be classified as newer, but I never buy absolutely new ornaments.

Luckily, my friend's shop is known for its vintage Christmas room and I usually buy a few 'new' old ornaments there every year.

I love those vintage pink ornaments!

I generally do not purchase mass produced ornaments as I like to decorate my tree with ornaments from places I've visited and ornaments that have been given to me from friends and family.

I'm seeing a lot of glitter Christmas decor this year . . . ohhhhh I love GLITTER!!

I love your pink ornaments, Sissie! They are so pretty and look wonderful just in the bowl the way you have them! Love your Lenox pieces, too. I noticed the Merry Go Round in your banner and wondered if it was a music box or something. Sometimes I will buy a new ornament - it depends what it is.

For the past two years I've been trying to clear up my existing decorations by getting rid of what I'm not using. Because I like to change things up from year to year, I am giving decorations two years. So this year, if I don't use something that I haven't used in two years - it's going. That extends to ornaments {obviously, not sentimental ones}, but it allows me to pick up one or two new ones.

Oh Sissie....remember I am old! and I collect way too much. I don't even put it all out! I love snowmen....and Santa's with things in their hands!! I have a snowflake and icicle tree...it goes on and on....and I am only talking Christmas....you don't even want me to start on regular stuff!!
Your tea carosel is adorable. Never saw one of those!! See, how could you not collect that???

Hi Sissie :) I am drooling over those pretty pink ornaments!! I've only just starting collecting vintage ornaments, pink ones, and I do like the white ones too. They are getting very hard to find, and when you do they tend to cost an arm & a leg! Most of the ornaments on my tree I've had for a few years. I did buy some new pretty pink ones 2 seasons ago that I just love at Menards (It's like Lowe's & Home Depot). I'll be doing a post after Thanksgiving with my tree, once it's up and all decorated :) Can't wait!!

Give your sweet fur babies a kiss & hug from me :) Though if your kitties are like mine, they tend to not like that sort of affection, lol :)

Have a great day, warmest hugs, Brenda

I love your pink ornaments...they must be hard to come by. And the musical pieces are just gorgeous...what treasures they are.

I love to pick up a few new ornaments a year. Our trees are always small because we have such a small living room and so I really crowd it with ornaments, but I just can't help myself!! I also part with ornaments that are in bad shape or have very little sentimental value, so some new ornaments are NEEDED! ;-D

Jane

I'm right there with you girl, I love pink as a Christmas color and vintage just puts me over the top! I collect antique hand blown glass ornaments, they are tough to find and when you do find them they are usually expensive, I did luck out this summer though and got several really neat ones for 5 cents each! I was in heaven, shared them on my blog. I set up a special small tree that I put my antique ornies on so the kids don't break them. The big tree has the plastic ornies that they get to hang and decorate with. Happy Holidays, oh and I love your Christmasy header! Very festive.

I love the pink ornaments. The merry-go-round is adorable.

I don't collect anything specific but think I will start a collection. You have inspired me. I did pass up two darling pink bottle brush Christmas trees a couple weeks ago that I saw at the Goodwill. When I went back to get them, guess what, they were gone. Could have just kicked myself.

Last year was my first 'pink' tree and I'm still on the lookout for more ornaments. I buy a Hallmark 'Puppy Love' and 'Mischievous Kittens' ornament each year. I keep saying I'm not going to but I hate to miss one now! This will be the 20th Puppy Love and the 12th Kitten ornament. They look cute on a tree just for them!

Oh so much pretty pink shiny things, how could anyone not fall in love...I dream of a white tree with lots of shiny pink decorations, but alas it is just not in this years budget...Instead we are going to do lots of pink, white and silver (glitter) homemade stuff for our small family room tree.

I do buy a new ornament each for my girls every year...This will be our last yr with Mic's (eldest) ornaments on our tree, next yr she will have her own *sniff*

Thank you for sharing your pretties with us.

Blessings Kelsie

Oh Sissie, your merry go round is just so pretty. Of course we all love the little trees. I find that your picture of the bowl of pink ornies makes me want to go shopping!!! Maybe one day I too will have a pink tree all my own. Right now I am more of the tradition red and green, but my tree is full of ornies I have collected through the years AND lots that my children have made me.....those are my favorites for sure. Love your post, Char

Hi Sissie,
I love all your photos, especially the one with the pink ornaments in the bowl. I used to purchase one or two vintage ornaments a year but they've become harder to find where I live.

Cindy said...

I purchase at least one ornament each year to add to the tree or trees. hehe Sometimes they honor an event, like the year my son was in Desert Storm. I try to pick up an ornament each time I go to a new city. And I try to add a Santa to my collection.

Hugs XX

Wow! You have some just like Mother's that I have. These are just gorgeous ... I do not purchase new ornaments unless it is a VERY special pink one as only pink & white go on my tree.

That tea cup merry go round is awesome & I love that train, too. How lucky you are to have them both.

Have a beautiful & blessed Thanksgiving holiday ~

I love your pink ornaments, Sissie. What a great collection! I force myself not to buy new ornaments each year, but I always end up with more! What do I collect? Well, lots of things, but I especially love anything glittery, and I love having lots of pinecones around the house for the holidays. Especially glitter coated ones:)

Love the pink ornaments. I always say NO MORE ornaments but I always seem to find at least one new one each year that I "just have to have." I especially love hand-made ornaments. Also I collect gingerbread ornaments for my kitchen tree. I think I'll do a post soon about things I love to collect...great idea!

Oh, I love the teacups! Every year I host a ladies only champagne holiday brunch and we have an ornament exchange. I have been doing it for 18 years and the ornaments get more elaborate, cute and pretty every year! So, they are the majority of the ornaments I use every year!

Hey my little Sissie girl!
Your tree is gorgeous, love the holiday banner! I love your pink balls too! (sounds dirty) What do I collect?? Hummmm Well every year after Christmas I love going to Pottery Barn & all the places where the orniments are expensive. I buy a few for cheap Cheap. Then when I get ready to decorate the next year they are my first christmas gift of the year. I really shouldn't, I have enough for 5 trees! Lisa

Your Lenox pieces are so pretty!

I have two Christmas collections. I have a small tree with yello and blue birds. And I have a tree and reallly most of my upstairs with teddy bear tree ornaments and other decorations.

I'm trying not to buy too much more for my collections unless I see something special I can't live without. Unless I buy more trees, I have pretty much run out of room for new stuff.

What a pretty post Sissie. That little teacup merry-go-round is adorable. I do buy new ornaments every year, one for each of my children. Something I've done since their births. When they all have their own homes, they'll have their own collection too :-)

Hi Sissie...love your collections! I have just recently started collecting vintage ornaments myself...no special color...just a special ornament to me!

The Tablescaper said...

Oh so beatiful. I'm trying to resist decorating for Christmas until after Thanksgivng but it's so hard to do with all of that beauty out there. Of course I buy more every year. But I'm trying to be more selective. This year I'm concentrating on my mantel. I have a beautiful Lladro nativity scene that was my mother-in-law's which I always display on my mantel, but it needs some freshening and a little punch. So that's where I'm concentrating my shopping.

I host a weekly meme called Seasonal Sundays. I'd love to have you and your beautiful collections come join us.

Once upon a time I had trees in every room of the house...and not little trees either. Back then I collected and saved everything. Every tree had a theme.

It weighed me down, having all that stuff. I gave trees away to my loved ones with all the ornaments for each tree.

Oh, I hung onto too many, but they live in the attic so they need new homes too.

Nowadays I decorate very little: mantel, bar, foyer. What keeps it minimalistic is the fact I KNOW I have to pack it all away again. :)
