Chillin and Thinkin!

Hi Bloggerettes!!  Just chillin, how bout you?

Hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas.  Now, it's back to normal.  I always feel energetic and ready to go right after Christmas.  I want to start putting away all the decorations, cleaning out closets, organizing my sewing room and cleaning the kitchen cupboards.  I feel renewed, refreshed and ready to start anew!!!!

I also like to take stock of my home and what I can do to change things up a bit.  Do you do that too, of course you do.

I walk by my curvy sofa everyday and I never seem to tire of it.  It's a soft muted yellow, cushy sofa created by Henredon Furniture.  I've had it for 17 years and I haven't even thought about recovering it in another color.  That is, until now.  It's your fault too.  All of you bloggers who love whites and creams have me wanting it too.
But, I'm crazy about my yellow toile pillows and if I change the sofa color, the pillows might not look as good.
And, I just finished this animal print pillow and it might not look good on white....

I do love these curvy lines.....

And it really does look good with everything else in the room.

Then I would have to recover the chairs and make new pillows, change the rug and all of the accessories....and then the mantel would need something new and the bookshelves.....um, I think I'll wait until next year, well, maybe.  Next year is just a week away ya know.

Do you want to change things and get organized right after the holidays?  Are you ready for something new....I bet you are, you're a bloggerette, aren't you!

~~hugs~~

Love your pink bunny slippers, Sissie!
Yes, I am so ready to clean out and organize! I feel the urge every year after Christmas for some reason! I really need to get my craft room in order, that is the most daunting task of all! And I am so ready to take down Christmas decorations, but the hubs likes to leave them up til after the New Year. So, I get sneaky about it, and remove a little bit at a time!! BTW, your couch looks like an awesome place to curl up with a good read and a cup of hot cocoa. Love it!

Hi Sissie,
I know exactly what you are talking about. I am checking out all the blogs for decorating and crafting and storage ideas, while I have HGTV on the tv. My mind was racing last/night early this morning about cleaning up my garden and trinkets that are waiting to be placed into my garden. I am hoping 2011 is a year for decluttering and keeping only what I love (trouble is I love it all :). Love, you cozy pink slippers.
Take care,
Jeanette

Hi Sissie, I think the color of your sofa is perfect. Its light enough to blend right in with whites, I would leave it as is. JMHO Hope you had a super Christmas! Rhonda

I love your sofa...very girlie...I am a bloggerette, but you know, I really don't have many things I want to change. And I still am enjoying Christmas. I sit every night and enjoy my tree. For at least another week!!

I think your sofa is beautiful just the way it is! It looks off white to me so that is close enough! Who could part with those gorgeous toile pillows? I am not feeling energetic the day after Christmas...I am tired from the last 2 days of cooking, wrapping etc. Today is a day of rest for me. Time to decompress. Maybe next week I will get my second wind! ~Hugs, Patti

Love that sofa and pillows, Sissie! Right now all I want to do is mop my sticky kitchen floor, yuk.

Yes , Sissie I know exactly what you mean about redoing, now that I finally got my new slipcover , I'm going to have to make some new pillows, and maybe change the room around. Yor sofa is beautiful, but if you wanted to slipcover it those pillows would still look nice. the nice thing about slipcovers is it doesn't change it for good , you can always go back when you feel like it.

PS, I love your slippers !

I was about to write and say NO! Don't change those beautiful pillows:) I'm not one for all white...have to have my color. But I do quite often want to change things up. Too bad my budget doesn't fit my wants! I don't like to keep decorations up too long after Christmas Day but this year due to a week's illness I just don't have the energy to get started. Maybe tomorrow.......

Those bunny slippers are so perfect for you and your blog! Your sofa is not only pretty, but it looks comfy too. Some years I want to put the decorations up right away, and other years I wait until the next week. Today I'm just *chillin* too :-)

I LOVE your sofa! I think it is beautiful as is! Do you think the white furniture trend might faze out in awhile? I wonder... I have a curved sofa like yours and I love it. It fits so well in my smallish living room.

I have been cleaning for weeks...now I want to purge!

Jane

Hi Sissie,
I LOVE your curvy sofa and toile cushions! I wouldn't change them at all. As for cleaning, I'm plum tired out from all the Christmas decorating and baking right now and I'm still enjoying my tree. I always leave everything up until New Years. But in the New Year, I'm looking at slip covers for chairs and an upholstery job on my sofa; maybe! Could be pricey but my furniture is needing a change as am I. Lots to think about. Hope you had a fabulous Christmas and I too love those fluffy pink slippers!

Christmas hugs,
Sandi

I do the same exact thing. After the holidays I'm always ready to take stock of the "stuff" in the house and figure out what I should keep and what I should toss.

I always say if we haven't used something in the last 2 years, we are probably not going to use it - ever.

Hope you had a lovely holiday Sissie! Love those animal print pillows!

I am kinda scared about taking down the Christmas stuff since I have not actually figured out what our homes decor in the living area is going to be...I have to make do with furniture we had in the mobile home for now and of course all the trimming that come with housing a toddler...I do dream of the day when my book shelves will once again house books and not toys.

I am however mentally decorating said toddlers new room though...With the new year my eldest is leaving the nest, meaning her room (the french bedroom)will become the guestroom and the guestroom will be redone for Sara...Then maybe one day Sara sleep in there instead of my room.

Ok see you got me planning and scheming on how to decorate...It was those evil pink bunnies did it.

Blessings Kelsie

PS: I love your curvy couch just the way it is too.

Hi Sissie,
Oh isn't it great to be amongst so many people who think alike.
I'm stitching and eyeing up all those things I want to change, that's even before the turkeys cold.
Happy after Christmas,
Angela.

Hi Sissie...I am ready to ring in some new looks for my nest too! The ideas are swirling around in my head so I better get busy and start putting all the merry brights away! Unfortunately I have to shovel first...we got at least a foot and it is still snowing!!

I am exhausted with all the decorating I did this year, because of blogging!! lol I know how it is to get a bit tired of something just because I have had it for years and even thought it still works and looks good you can't help but rethink it. I would not change it because it will set off a tiring chain of events. Put away the christmas stuff and set your sights on another project. Perhaps you could do a slipcover in white cotton and put it on in the spring/summer months? Curves are hard to slip right, but they can be done. I have the same yellow toile pillows, because I had yellow toile slipcovers on two loveseats in my NH house that we just sold. The loveseats went to my mother in laws, so I can still enjoy the pretty toile. Love the leopard pillow you have mixed in. I think I won't be taking down my decorations until next year!

Since I was 20, I have always done mine spring cleaning during the week between Christmas and New Years. Always.

My holiday decorations, taken out the day after Thanksgiving have always been packed away right after Christmas.

For me, when it's over, it's over. :)

I love the new pillows, everyone needs a little animal print in their home. As for the changing and organizing, yes I am one of those that wants it fresh and new. I rearrange rooms after the holidays and PAINT PAINT PAINT. In fact I can't wait for spring to come so I can get some projects done. I hope you had a wonderful Christmas.
