A Little Retail Therapy is good for the soul!

Hi Bloggerettes!  Well, I decided that I needed a little "retail therapy."
You know, a little diversion from the thrifts, restores and junkin haunts.  Sometimes I just need to peruse the boutiques and the big box stores.  I have been wanting a new lamp for this table in my livingroom.
I found this.  I love the kinda retro look of the shade and the base.
The shade looks like a cut velvet.
It looks expensive....yes?

The shade and the crystal base are from Lowe's Home Improvement Store!  The shade was $20. and the base was $36. for a total of $56.
I think that I did pretty good.  Do you like it?
I think it was a good deal but always in the back of mind is that little voice saying maybe, just maybe I would have found one during my junkin escapades!

I'm working on my built ins and I'm thinking of adding some pink, thanks Amy, Maison Decor!  If you do not know Amy, then you are missing out on some great decorating ideas.  Be sure and stop by and introduce yourself.  She's a real sweetie.

Found the pink plates and the pink depression glass at the thrifts.

I want to thank everyone for giving me the information on this basket.  I learned from all of you educated bloggerettes that it is an  antique artillary basket used to hold ammunition canisters.
I have sense seen a few on some blogs which have numbers imprinted on them.  Sherry at No Minimalist Here used hers in a unique way.  Stop by her blog and check it out.  She takes decorating ideas to new heights.

Everyone go out and have a great week!

~~hugs~~

Hi Sissie, I think the lamp is beautiful and goes really well with your decor. I too need to get a fix of retail therapy every now and then at the big retail stores or little homewares stores. There are so many pretty things at the shops and always like to see what's out there! Yes I know Amy, I love her decorating style so I wasn't surpised when she recommended to add a little pink. Sometimes I think our white palettes need to be lifted subtly with a little color too. Your home is just beautiful and love watching how you decorate it! take care, Maryann

Love the dishes from the thrift store...so pretty! Really neat lamp and goes so well with the table, I'm also looking for a lamp for on top of my sewing machine cabinet. I've looked at GW but no luck so I think I need some retail therapy too.
Have a great evening,

Hi Sissie, I had a few comments today from people you sent over, so I wanted to come over and see for myself. Thanks for the shout out, and it is weird as I have a post going up tomorrow morning that I referenced your blog and you darling girl about your shabby ruffles! We continue to have a lot of crossed paths and commonalities! If you paint your shelves before I paint mine, I'll be more determined than ever to get mine done ASAP. I have been a little side tracked right now with the bed and bath makeover, so come by tomorrow!

The lamp is exquisite. And you deserve it. That's really a good price for a lamp these days. And, of course, you should use the pink. That is definitely your signature color.

First the pink is great, don't sweat paying for a lamp, it does look expensive and you got it so reasonable. Now, that table is amazing, I am sure somewhere you blogged about it sometime, but wow, what a conversation piece.

I think the lamp is beautiful, especially the shade. I think the price was very reasonable too, lamps and shades can get quite expensive.
I will have to go see the two ladies you mentioned, I'm always on the lookout for new ideas.

BTW~I am NOT from Texas! I'm from Washington State. I think the boots may have thrown you off! We just THINK we're cowgirls!
As for the zebra rug~$44 at the local Walmart!

Hi dear Sissie-
I love your lamp, it is classy, and beautifull- I do have something for chrystals, too---it is gorgeus with the dark brown lampshade.
And the pink blossomed plates, are worth a dinner with Marie-Antoinette--love them .
Big monday hug-Dorthe

Ah Sissie..I LOVE the lamp! That table is exceptionally wonderful too! But the new photo you've posted of yourself is my absolute favorite! You look so beautiful! I know I haven't dropped by in a while and when I got to missing you, I headed on over. We're snowed in today in Middle Georgia. Even hubby didn't haven't to report to work. He's looking after Mama so I could pop in and say hello. Know that there's a hug and a smile coming your way..with a little sunshine thrown in..from the lovely Peach State this afternoon. xoxoTerri

Sissie, I love your Ammo basket with the huge flowers in it. You are going to have so much fun messing with it. Wait until Christmas when you fill it with your white flowers and tons of greenery...or whatever...I have had mine for about 13 years now..and have never been sorry I bought it or ever wanted to get rid of it.
Yours is wonderful.

Boy howdy...the vote is in. We all love your choice of lamp and shade(which btw is 2die4), but now we want to hear about the table. You may not know it but I'm a seashell freak. Did you make it or was it found like that. Either way...I adore it. It suits you and your style.
