Shabby Creating

Hi Bloggerettes!  I've been painting again and I'm anxious to show you how this somewhat boring table is now shabby delish!
Carol from the Polka Dot Closet did a post about a table in her booth that just wouldn't sell.  The upscale table was okay but it was dark wood.  Everyone kept telling her it would be a crime to paint it but she knew that it needed to be painted in order to sell.  So, Carol commited a crime and painted it anyway.  She is now on row 17 cell block 22!
This table just wasn't impressing anyone in my booth either. Others said not to paint it because it would be a shame and a crime.  Looks like I'm going to be Carol's cellmate.  Hey Carol, maybe we could talk em into pink jumpsuits!

It's off to my booth tomorrow and we shall see.  Of course, I've even thought about keeping it because it does look good. Yes?

I have got to quit shopping other booths!  I found this wonderful cotton oyster sack and well, it just had to be turned into a pillow.
I mean what else would you do with a vintage oyster sack.

This wire cupcake holder makes a cute holder for soaps
and shabby corn.  I ordered the shabby corn from Stefanie at Rose Petals and Rust.  This girl has some serious talent.

Pink Saturday.  Be sure to stop by and get a load of lots of pink goodness.

Stay warm this weekend while out looking for your latest treasures, or creating something beautiful in your studio, or writing your latest novel, or baking a yummy cake, or just staying in and taking it easy!

~~hugs~~
Sissie

Hey Miss Sissie,
I, for one, love your white shabby table! What is it with people? Don't they know that white is better! I finally painted my walnut coffee table and everyone loves it, except my youngest son who plans to take it off my hands someday. I tell him he can always have it stripped and stained again. I plan to use it for a while yet! It looks soooo much better white! I love it and I have no regrets.
I am lovin your crystal door knobs too!
Happy Pink Saturday, my sweet friend.

Blessings,
Sandi

Many years ago I used to watcg Christopher Lowells decorating show and he said "just because it's wood, doesn't mean it's good"
I agree with him! If something is prettier with a fresh coat of white paint, why not! Your table is very lovely now!!

You guys would look cute in pink jumpsuits :) I've seen it time and time again, at the antique mall, where I have my booth. Things just won't sell if they aren't painted. I had a dresser that was in perfect condition so I took it in "as is". It sat for months. I brought it home and painted it off white. Bam... it sold! I think the table will sell quick!

Loving the oyster sack pillow and the cupcake holder is darling to hold soaps. Never thought of that!

Happy Pink Saturday!

To paint or not to paint...that is the question! ;) I love your table Sissy! I have a dark wood dinning set that I'm feeling the urge to paint too. I think my husband would think I've gone mad! It's such a dark dinning room and not my style. Anyway...would love to know how to make it look like your table!!!! :)

Hi Sissie, The table looks wonderful painted. I am in love with your new pillow. Who would have thought oyster sacks could be so adorable? Such a wonderful idea using the cupcake stand for soaps. Have a great weekend.

I love the pink candy corns, Sissie! I found them last year by accident at Tuesday Morning and just had to get some. This year I saw them at a local grocery store, so I think this pink thing is catching on! Oh well, if that's the worst crime you commit . . . LOL! I love the table and all those people who said it would be a crime, well, they weren't buying when the tables were dark wood, were they?

I hope you have fun with your cellmate Carol! LOL LOVE the table white. Happy PS!

Sometimes wood really is past its prime, not always, but sometimes it does look better and details show better with a good coat of white paint. We are painting everything white now in a few years we will probably be stripping it back off to find the original wood underneath. A fickle bunch are we not?

That was too funny. I love the way the table looks and I feel a little makeup can make anybody look better. Love all the pinks especially the candy corn.

Hi Sissie....Your table shows itself off now! Why is it that white makes a piece of furniture show its details so much better?? Hubby has put his foot down on some pieces and that is OK, as a darker piece here and there shows off the white and vice-versa!
Happy PS!

It looks perfect all painted up. That is such a pretty table. I can't wait til it gets warmer around here so I can get to painting again.

I love the table ! Move over in that cell cause I have been thinking I need to paint the hutch in my entyway , I've had it since my husband and I got married nearly 41 years ago, everyone says " don't paint it " but I'm really tired of it and think it needs a new lease on life.So if they come to get me I want a pink jumpsuit too !

Kim @ Savvy Southern Style said...

I'll probably be in there with y'all since I have probably committed a few paint crimes, too.

Donna said...

Hi Sissie,
Well, I say paint away! Maybe I will have to join you in that pink prison jumpsuit! As long as mine has some glitter on it, I'll be fine:) Love how your table turned out, it's just gorgeous!!

Sissy, I can't think of anyone I would rather be in the slammer with than you. Pink jump suits would be great, I think I will make some shabby roses for us to pin on our suits and if you could bring those fabulous oyster sack pillows, we'll be all comfy. I think we should do a count down of how long it takes our tables to sell, I am going in tomorrow, we'll see!! Thanks for the shout out!

If painting dark wood is a crime...just lock me up and throw away the key. You girls can lead the others in the Cell Block Tango to while away the time in the hoosegow!
Love the oyster sack...love it!

What sweet delights for this Pink Saturday. I think my favorites are the seashells. We're currently surrounded by snow and the thought of warm ocean breezes puts a huge smile on my face. They also make me think of the oldest of my grandchildren, since she collects shells AND her brothers also call her Sissie. :) I'll have to tell her about your cute site AND shop!

Love that oyster pillow. Oh did that one ever speak to me. It is gorgeous. How wonderful you are with your pillows.

I love your cupcake holder with some of Stephanie's candy corn. I have some in a dish in my china cabinet as well. I mean who could resist?

Hope you have a glorious weekend sweetie. Many hugs and SO much love, Sherry

I used to be one of those who thought it was a crime to paint pieces of furniture, but as long as it's not a family heirloom, I'm so over that! The table looks gorgeous, and I bet someone is going to snap it up and take it home!
Happy Pink Saturday,
Carol

Sissie, As always your projects are perfect to the tee. I also read some other posts and your booth looks FABULOUS! Wow! If only I could get my booths in that perfect of shape! I am moving toward shabby whites and some Paris black this season. Now if only I could get motivated! LOL! Love it all sweet Sissie, keep inspiring me!

What a cute post! I stopped by to see what you are up to Sissie, and to thank you for making me feel loved in you comment... so thank you, you are just too sweet! I think the table is perfect white and shabbified, just what it needed I'm sure. I feel like when I paint something that other people say 'no way' to I'm always amazed with how much detail pops once it's painted. So the next time I get to painting (too cold here right now and not enough space in the house to paint) just save me I spot in your cell block cuz with you and Carol I will be in good company! Happy Sunday! Theresa xoxo

My hubby thinks it's a crime to paint wood, especially if it's oak. But I do love me some white furniture! There are just some things, like your table, that you see and just know a coat of white paint will make it look lovely!
