My Lovely Home....

Hi Bloggerettes!  I have such mixed emotions about selling our home.
Part of me wants to remain here forever and another part of me wants to go back home to the mountains.    We had this home custom built and we did much of the design ourselves, so it's hard to give it up.  This home is so "me!"

I hope that my new home has some of the things that I love about this one.  Like built ins,  I love them....

Do you know that just about everything you see on these shelves were either found at thrift and antique shops, TJ's and Home Goods.....
And, big windows that let in lots of sunlight...
All the little side tables you see were found at thrift stores, resale shops and Home Goods...
The curvy sofa we have had for fifteen years or more and the wing back chairs have been recovered three times...

And a screened porch to watch the golf course sprinklers...
The kitties love it too!

A place to hang my cheeky mermaid....
Got her at the auction...isn't she cute!

A big walk-in closet....

A corner in my bedroom where I often ponder all of these things and more....
Pillows made by me, curtains made by me.  Hydrangea print from Home Goods.  The tablecloth is a ruffled curtain.  The chair has been covered three times!
So why are we selling it?
It's time.

We've reached a time in our lives where it's time to downsize to something smaller and more manageable.
The housing market is pretty up and down right now, so
who knows how long it will take to sell.

In the meantime I'll just enjoy every minute of living here.

Okay, get out there and make, sew, bake, paint, create, photograph, write or find something wonderful and share it with the rest of us.

~~hugs~~
Sissie

"Home" is what you make it and when you take your things to your new home and surround yourself with those things and the people you love it will feel right.

Your home is so beautiful, but I understand about selling. We are planning on doing that when Hubby retires, but that will be a few years yet. Will look forward to see your new home.

Your buit-ins were the first thing that hooked me. They are stunning with all your wonderful finds.
I just imagine any where you hang your hat will be filled with beauty and the joy of you.

Hi Sissie :) You have such a wonderful home, and it shows how much love you have put into over the years, but I know that with your new home, where ever it may be, will be just as beautiful, and show just as much love :)

Have a wonderful week dear friend ~ warmest hugs, Brenda

Sissie, I love your home! It has all the elements that I love in a home, windows and built-ins. We down-sized fifteen years ago and I miss my big house! However, I'm thinking now a posh apartment would be a lot less work for me and for Hubby too. I'm sure your home will sell quickly and you will find something else you will love. Home is where your heart is.

Blessings,
Sandi

I can see why you wouldn't want to leave this breathtaking home, Sissie. You have such an elegant touch in your decorating ... I love everything you share. We keep looking to do the same, as you ... downsize.

Have a great week ~

I can understand your mixed emotions as I have been there. I downsized from an old Victorian to a smaller home not even half my old home's size. You have a wonderful knack for decorating and your new home will be just as beautiful. Just think, you get to start with a clean slate!

Sissie...I understand more than you know. My husband wants to REALLY downsize and I just cry. I am not ready for it, at least not now. I love my home.....it is very simple, but home. Hang in, if it is meant to be, it will happen. I understand the enjoying while you are there too!

I'm sure your next home will be just as beautiful and you will give it your own finishing touches and have fun in the process. Your home is wonderful so your next one can just be smaller and just as wonderful. Hugs, Batmans Grandma, Marilou

Sissie - your house is just beautiful! I love the openness, airiness, and the brightness of it all! You did a spectacular job in designing and styling it. But I can totally understand about downsizing. We'll be doing that within the next 6 years for sure. Sad, but necessary. I'm sure that you'll have no problem selling that beauty! :)

Sissie, you know how much I love your current home, since I've tried to get you to let me submit it to a magazine. But I also know that no matter where you live you will make that house into a beautiful home too, because that is what you do!

Oh Sissie, it is absolutely gorgeous! The mountains sound mighty enticing now that it is so warm. At least there is no rush for you, you better start looking for your next perfect house. It sure will make for exciting bog posts as you move in and redecorate. You are going to have to get a new booth too....That's a bummer!

Oh Sissie Sweetie...
What a beautiful share. I so love your home. It has been so much fun visiting you there, but I have to tell you, "Where ever you go, I will follow." Love the house, but adore you sweet one.

Hope you have a glorious week. I know you will find an even better home just waiting down the road. It will have things that you love as well.

Many hugs and much love, Sherry

Ah ha! I answered my own question Sissie!
Well, you just have to do what you need to do. If it's time - it's time. And wherever you go - it'll be home there too. you'll put all your wonderful touches on it and before you know it...
Hmmmm....if you are downsizing...I think your booths are going to be overflowing with GOOD STUFF once you find your new home! And then, it just might be time for me to take a road trip...give me some advanced warning - will ya plz?
:) Hugs. Karen

Oh Sissie I know what you mean I would find it really hard to leave my existing home, but i know we will someday. I no longer like the town we live it, it has changed to a town I no longer recognize, many of the long time residence feel that way. If we could just take our home with us that would be perfect!! You will make your next home just as lovely and who knows maybe you will try some new and exciting things. Kathysue

But one thing I will get to leave with...memories and that's enough. :) Take lots of photos, Sis. That's what I'm doing. You're home is beautiful-but you know your next one will be too, my friend.

Sissie~ Oh- I - Know! We built this house after working our way up through 12 other houses! It is a dream of a home...but,like you,it is time. We have decided to wait for one more year before we sell...and I am already dreading leaving this place I love. Like you, I have lots of built-ins..that I adore...and we are on the bay. Your home is lovely- I think it might sell pretty quickly if it is priced competitively. Beauty always sells. Blessings to you as you go through this process. Did you ever think we would be old enough to want to "downsize"?;>) Diana

Sissie,
It must be hard for you to leave a home that you designed yourself, putting so much love into it.
My little townhouse is no where near the size of your home but I am quite aware that because of 13 steps to get to the front porch and a narrow hallway and upstairs, I will have to sell it too for something more handicapped accessible.
My arthritis, which is now diagnosed as rhuematoid, and possibly Lupus will force me to leave our little townhouse. We already have plans of moving right down the street into a first floor large apartment in the Apartment complex where both of my sons are now living. I will be able to fit just about all of my furniture into a large 2 bedroom apartment that will be maintainence free!!
Good luck on the sale of your home!
Do you know where you are moving to and do you have something picked out already?

Hugs,
Debbie

Dear Sissie.Your home is where your heart is. We downsized too last year, everybody said we were crazy leaving that beautiful penthouse we had , but now in this smaller home everybody says oh even nicer than the other one. So with your stuff around you and your excellent taste that new home is going to be even better. YOu can count on that. Have a good day my friend

It is sad, Sissie, I feel that way sometimes about our house. We are still on the market but the listing expires July 1st and I'm not sure if we will wait or relist right away. I'm trying to look at it as a new "canvas" to decorate and that usually perks me up a little!

shabbyfufu said...

It's beautiful Sissie and I'm sure that it will be well loved by whomever purchases it. You'll make another lovely nest in your next home....no doubt!

I know what you mean about downsizing and doing some of that myself around here with too much stuff!

Good luck,
Janet

I understand. We often contemplate selling some day - it will eventually be too much to maintain. Your home is just beautiful, Sissie, and I can see why it will be so hard to leave it. But with your talent, I know you will turn any new space into a beautiful home.

yes I can see why you hate to sell and move...but I always loved making a new nest, no matter how much I loved my last one. I hope you will too!

Sigh,... i can totally relate to how you feel. I sold my dream home 4 years ago, i watched them build it every day, with my little 2 year old son in my arms... and i lived there 17 years. i felt like it had my blood sweat and tears embedded in the very earth there.
Now i live in a new little house, in a sweet neighborhood, and have met so many new friends wonderful people i would never have known if i hadn't moved.
You will make any place you live beautiful Sissy, just as you did this home, and you'll also have a whole new chapter of experiences to add to your life...

Hugs,
