Should we keep the rust????

Hi Bloggerettes!  Here's my question.....should I keep the rust or paint it????

I found these great bistro chairs, complete with a great chippy and rusty patina.  I'm not sure whether to paint them or not.  Their in great shape and very sturdy...

The rust is in all the right places...

Shall we stay au naturel, or cover it up????

ummm????

~~hugs~~

I love the rust and I would rough up the paint some more. I love the look of the old French bistro chairs on Dreamy Whites blog. You could always spray them with some poly so the rust won't rub off on peoples clothes.

By all means, keep the rust! Completely charming.

Love the rust! I would probably put a sealer on them so they don't rust further. They are perfect right now!

Oh Sissy I have the same problem, I tend to like things all neat and tidy so rust kind of bothers me, but I see others buying things because they are rusty. I have to paint, but if you like rust and chippy then keep them au naturelle! I have a whole patio set that we have had for over 40 years that has become rusty, because of my neglect. It is really nice and I plan on fixing it up this summer. I wish you luck,Kathysue

For now, I would keep the rust - and if you get tired of it ....

I think there is just enough rust to be perfectly perfect. I wish someone would come clean my home from top to bottom. Not an easy task since I have so much stuff and we have so many dust storms in this heat. :/ Good luck with the sale of your home. It is lovely and I am sure buyers will be drawn in by its charm. Great makeover on that chair that is sitting so prettily in the corner of the dining room. And those pillows on your entryway bench. Even if that rug that you think doesn't match looks great just where it is. You have that touch to bring everything together nicely. Have a wonderful day. Tammy

You know what? I'm a big fan of rust, but I actually think you might want to paint these, Sissie. I think crisp, clean white might be a better look for these particular chairs.

Go with your gut.

Sissie...as is for sure! They are perfect!

I do agree with Susie though ~ sealing them will also prevent any rust coming off and onto your Summer whites!

The rust really is in all the right places! You could go either way with painting or not. Hmm...I would probably leave them alone.

You should see mine, I don't think yours actually have much rust at all compared to mine.

If you paint them, would you distress them?
If so...then keep the rust. It adds to the charm of the chairs.
Love them!

G'morn, Sissie ~ I am not into rust, but they are very nice the way they are. I'd paint them, personally.

I didn't buy any of the dresses. I only have one dress hanging out for ll to see. Maybe one day I'll model it. I should probably hang out the dresses Mother made me. Good idea, thank you for motivation.

Have a beautiful Father's Day with your family, Sissie.

Have a beautiful week.

My vot is to leave them the way they are, especially if using them for displays.

I like rust. Maybe a clear coating so the rust doesn't get on anyone's white slacks? ;-)

My vote is to keep the rust. I just like the look. I am wondering, and don't fall off your chair laughing, as this may be a very dumb question, but....is there a way to seal the rust. To keep the look, but have it sealed so it is just a bit tidier???

The seat and backs are terrific, so I'd leave the rust. Like you said it's in all the right places! fab chairs btw!

Yes all are getting excited about the wedding. Especially since her father broke his ankle and needs surgery but they found a blockage to his heart which needs a stent so all is up in the air whether he will be at the wedding or n the hospital :(:(

Oh gosh, I love the rust! But, I think it's all a matter of preference, so it's hard to know what a client would want....I think I'd make a fancy tag for each one that has French writing in the background and then across it I'd print out "Rusted Treasure." That would be very eye-catching.
