No use crying over spilt paint.....

Spilling paint isn't always a bad thing, seriously.  I picked up this charming frenchee chair at the Habitat store.  It had some ugly mauve colored fabric upholstery and I knew it had to go.  However, removing the back cushion was going to be a job.

So, I started painting the frame with the upholstery intact.....

Then I accidentally spilled some of the paint on the fabric and well.....it looked pretty darn good.  So I did what any good junker artist whose worth her weight in gold would do....I painted it!!!!

The paint is Behr's "blush pink."
It's not sticky or tacky.  It's actually very smooth and looks like
a really good quality oil cloth.  I did add a coat of clear polyurethane to protect it and add durability.

Who knew a big spill could turn out so well....

Oh, by the way....I also made this cute french image pillow.

I also found this really cute retro ottoman in pink!!!  Now how lucky is that......Notice how everything is "cute."

So, there you have it.  No use crying over spilt paint. I've heard of fabric paint but never tried it and this seemed to work really well.
I might even try it again on another project.

~~hugs~~
Sissie

Sissie, "cute" is always good! My sister and I have a running joke about why we just have to purchase something we see when we are shopping together. We always say we just HAD to have it because it was so CUTE! I love how your chair turned out, and the pink ottoman is adorable. I am very much a pink sort of girl. Enjoy your upcoming weekend, my friend. Vicki

I would have never thought you could paint fabric with anything other than fabric paint, but it looks awesome. That pink ottomon is just to die for and with that chair...a match made in heaven:)

I was noticing how everything was pink, Sissie, except for the pillow! But, yes, it is all cute, too. : ) I never would have thought you painted that cushion from the picture. I've been readng about a lot of people doing that and it sounds like it comes out pretty good. Nice option if the upholstery is in good shape and you can't upholster a piece.

Wow, you painted that fabric. It looks so good. I would be afraid to paint fabric. Doesn't it make it hard? Cute ottoman, too.

I painted a settee once. Does your chair feel really "stiff" like canvas? I used it for several years and now my daughter has it. It held up beautifully.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE tha pink ottoman. I would buy that from you in a heartbeat if I lived closer...for the little gitls' room. Did I say I LOVE IT? xo

Okay, now you really have my attention. Pink is so lovely, that ottoman is a rare find. The chair and the ottoman are enough to make my Tuscan look go bye bye!

Nope,
Crying over spilt paint,
Crying over spilt milk is a waste of time but crying over spilt meatloaf on my carpet was a very good cry.
