Second guessing decorating decisions...

Decisions....
I bought this for the master bath thinking it would be a perfect spot to apply makeup, etc.  Well.....it lasted two days.  No like.
I looked at it and looked at it....just didn't feel right.  Tried it in another room...still didn't feel right. Argh!
I feel like I've been wishy washy lately.  Just can't seem to make a decision about certain rooms.

I think it's because I really want this but with silver trim.

Next I found this beautiful mirror from another dealer.  Painted it white and hung it on the wall in the guest bedroom.  Still not sure if I like it or not....see what I mean!!!

It looks real nervous every time I walk by.
I usually don't second guess myself too much when it comes to decorating my home.  I'm wanting something new and different but I find it hard to break away from my whites and neutrals.  Color just doesn't work for me.  I look at the home décor magazines and love the rooms I see with color, but when it comes to my own home I just can't do it.

Good thing I'm neutral or else!
How about you?  Do you like incorporating colors or changing from your usual color scheme.  Do you make a decision and stick with it?  I doubt it.  After all we are Bloggers!!!

I think alot of people second guess themselves, just like you're doing. Alot of my Interior Design clients couldn't make a decision and stick with it. They always hesitated. Then, they found me.

I have a wide LIKE list of colors, patterns and furniture styles, for myself. I LOVE combining patterns and colors. I love contemporary and traditional and alot in between. My favorite accent color is black - it anchors a room. I love to incorporate Romantic artwork, delicate crystals, textures and area rugs into my schemes.

One thing that doesn't work for me is WHITE - the opposite of you. If I had to do a WHITE room or house for myself, I don't know that I could do it...unless of course it was CONTEMPORARY and I used tons of TEXTURE! Hmmmmmm.

Good luck to you!

I feel like I'm the opposite, Sissie. I love all the white rooms I see pictures of, especially the bedrooms, but when it comes time for me to actually do my decorating, I always have some kind of color thrown in with white. Black in the living room, Duck Egg in the bedroom. Probably because, in my case, I'm taking my husband into account. It's bad enough he kids me about our home being decorated "French"! : )

I am so sentimental that I don't change things much. And I like color.....with the neutrals. I just can't do all white. You will get it right!!

Hi Sissy! Yes, I like incorporating colors, usually just a pop of color. I don't usually change things if I like it! I do love to play though, that's the fun of decorating to me. I know you'll get it just right. I love your decorating skills and everything looks fabulous already. I hear you though, a change is good, besides fun.

Love the white, but gotta have color! But I do second guess myself. All.the.time! I think I can go more minimalist, but then I cram everything I can into a space. Why? Why? Why? I guess we're just a little quirky! :) Have a great week. Love the mirrors above the bed!!

Sissy, first that mirrored "Regency" make up table is to die for!!! I think it is difficult for you because you have had SO MANY decisions to make lately. I think I would like to do a little color too, but like you....I am not sure I will like it???? Enjoy the journey!

Sissie,

I am feeling just like you are now, too. I have been moaning that my living room is too neutral, too blah. But every time I get an idea with s color, even the palest, I just think I will grow to hate it too soon. If you are feeling that much pull towards your whites, I say go for it. This you. This is now. I have all my rooms done a little differently and with different colors so I can't say I'm hell bent on white, but that's the way my living room is going and I just don't know how to keep it alive and fresh.

Good luck to you!

I am always second (or third) guessing myself. Now, I am thinking I am going to change the two upstairs bedrooms around and switch them out. Should I paint? Should I redo the curtains...etc...etc.... Do I still LOVE that painting? Yep- I sure "get it". xo Diana

I always second guess myself--every now and then something is perfect but usually I change my mind several times. I think my kids and husband think I am totally nuts because something as simple as a candlestick I will move 10 times until I find the perfect spot!

Sissie, when I moved to my new place I was seeing whites and neutrals in my mind...is that what I have...no. It seems like I am still drawn to neutrals but not the whites so much. Aw well, it will come organically and it will be what it will be. Oh and yes, we are bloggers so we get to change it all up all the time!

I always second guess myself, I think it's normal sweetie, just stick to what make you happy in your home, I mean you have to be happy and comfy with your surroundings in your home, I tend to stick to what I like, I do change things around a lot ;-) but like you said we are bloggers!
For what it's worth I love that beautiful vanity table.

We're gearing up to paint our living room and dining room. I'm going outside of my comfort zone: I chose gray and a seafoam green/blue (saw it in HGTV magazine). I'm definitely a neutral girl myself but I'm ready to shake things up. Hope I like it!

I won't even tell you about the stuff I have crammed into our guest room closet because it just didn't work for me! You can always re-sell what you don't love:)

Hi Sissy! Thanks for the good word on my new space! My blog has been a bit quiet the last couple of months too. I am one for neutrals and know I will never change. I may go lighter or darker, but I find color too jarring and too much of a commitment. If I want a punch of color for a while I do it in an accessory or two. When I get indecisive I just wait. But my rooms are always evolving anyway, as you said. But some things just bug!

I'm the same way... i see something with color that looks great to me and then try it out, and after a couple of days i don't like it! I find the neutrals really visually calming, but it doesn't stop me from trying a crazy color pillow every once in a while!
