Trying Gold Again....or Gold Fail!

Well here I go again.  I'm attempting to add gold to my home and trying to convince myself that I like it.  Um??
I bought this gold mirror from a favorite junker and I really liked the gold paint and patina.  That is until I put it on my entryway wall.
 I kinda like...kinda don't...you know what I mean.

I moved the wooden angel to see if I liked it better with the gold.  Believe me she has seen me waving the paint brush at her many times.  Luckily for her that she hasn't been painted white.  (the angel doesn't have stripes, it's the sunlight coming through the blinds)
Not long ago, I created this look in my family room corner.  Kept it that way for about two weeks and poof! it was gone!
The frame has been painted white and the entire look was dismantled...and now I don't know what to put there!!!!
So, what would you do.  Would you paint the mirror white or another color?  I'm counting on you to tell me what I should do.
Nothing like being "Blogger Approved."  I have the paint and the brush standing by!

                                         ~~hugs~~

Hi Sissie! How are you doing? Well, you probably don't want to ask me because I really like your mirror gold. It's a gorgeous piece. I just love lots of color around me. Hope you're doing well.
Be a sweetie,

I have a gold angel hanging above my bedroom door playing the trumpet. I have thought of painted the lil darling but like it that way! Gold is pretty but so is white! Tough decision! I am looking for a large mirror framed in silver for my new living room furniture! Hmmm....

The mirror is gorgeous, but I think you are a white girl and that just isn't going to change! Make yourself happy!

The gold mirror is gorgeous. I think it would be gorgeous white too. I love the look of antique golds with whites but in my own home it would get painted. I would paint it grey and then white with chalk paint. So I suggest that you follow your heart for your home. xxo

I love it the way it is, Sissie, but since you don't have gold in your home, and assuming you want to keep the mirror, I would paint it. I found an old gold mirror (the one in our dining area) that I did think I would paint at some point, but the patina and age to it have the gold toned down enough that I really love it "as is".

I love the mirror in gold. It is a classic color and I'd hate to see it painted. I have several gold mirrors in my home and love them.

I like the gold with the darker decor surrounding it. Beautiful! Of course, it would be beautiful in white as well! I know I'm sitting on the fence. :) Just be sure to show us if you change it! :)

Guess what? I am slowly liking gold again, too. I see it all over here again...and some pieces just never go out of style. That being said- my hands just itch to paint the gold out. lol xo Diana

I guess we are in the minority, Sissie, but I do not like just gold. I would have to rub a little black in the cracks and lightly dry brush some white. I think the gold would look great with a distressed finish

Hi Sissie,
The gold is pretty but you know me I am a paint everything white kinda gal and I would paint it white maybe have a little of the gold chip through. Do what will make you happy when you look at it and then it will be the right answer. Have a great week end.

I have a gold framed mirror too and I contemplated painting it but changed my mind. I'm glad I left it gold because I completely changed my colour palette in the room. Gold is very much in vogue right now but you have to do what makes you happy, my friend. Have a happy weekend.

Hugs,
Sandi

I used to hate gold--now certain golds I like. That mirror is a nice gold. But if you aren't loving it I would say paint it white and distress it so some of the gold shows through. I think that would make it perfect!

Sissie, I think the gold mirror is fabulous but do what makes you happy

If the mirror was just sitting there by itself, I would say paint it...but you've created a gorgeous vignette with other pieces that all go together so well, Sissie.
Instead of it all blending into the wall....everything catches the eye, and looks really chic. It's not a gaudy gold, it's rich looking, and very beautiful. It fits your home decor nicely.
Leave it for a while. You can always change it later if you get tired of it.
I love it!!

Your gold mirror is really beautiful. I think it give a nice anchor to the space. But it's really about what you love...if you have to talk yourself into it, it's probably not going to work for you, so get out the brush and paint away!

Hi Sissie, I love the gold mirror. I would leave it there and take some items off the table in the front of it and the extra gold frame. I love the topiaries though...maybe make it more simple. A little bit of gold goes a long way, and I have one big gold mirror in my living room and the three others are painted. xo

Just gorgeous the way it is but I can see you wanting to paint it white. I love your home and I know what ever you choose will be lovely.
I love all the pretties surrounding the mirror. Cant wait to see what you decide to do.
I love the pink pillow you added in your previous post. I wish I could go with less colors like you.
Thanks so much for the sweet comment about Christi's wedding. It really meant a lot to me your coming by and leaving it.
My heart is filled with joy her marrying such a good Christian man.
Love you honey

I like the mirror gold but it is something that takes getting used to when you are changing things up. Whatever you decide will be beautiful - it always is. Cathy

Well, it is pretty the way it is... and white is always perfect, especially in your home - but i've seen my friend who has the antique shop paint mirrors like this gray - of course just the right shade of gray, and they look gorgeous. I would have an awful time deciding...

The vignette is stunning, and I would not paint the mirror. Maybe you just don't like gold. xoxo Su
