Sissie's Shabby Cottage was looking a little too shabby...

Well with all of the events from last year and this year, Sissie's Shabby Cottage has been looking...well, a little too shabby.  Definitely it hasn't been looking chic, but more like tired.  So, it was time to give it a little bit of a face lift...
Starting with the kitchen eating area I found my inspiration for the farmhouse table in the latest issue of Cottage White Magazine, page 60 featuring my exact table.

Although I love those animal print chairs, I went with tufted back, linen chairs instead, (basically because I already had them!)
Yep, the table is chunky and very heavy but I like it.
Pay no attention to that gate propped against the wall.  I'm not sure what to do with it. The dark shutter was found at Kirkland's in their sale room.  It had a small chip but not enough to bother me!  Most of the other items are not new and have been moved from room to room until finally settling in one place.  Most likely, and you know what I mean, they will be moved again!

I'm not sure how long the Farmhouse style will stay around but I like the mixture of the look with a more traditional decorating style that is more me.
I've been through the country look, the floral wallpaper, the southwestern theme, avocado green appliances, shag rugs, formal rooms and more and every time I always return to what I love.  We have all been influenced by what's trending, and that's okay, but
I've learned from past decorating mistakes that it's always best to stay true to what feels right for you and your home.   Do you agree?

                                                ~~hugs~~
                                                 Sissie

Your home is always so pretty and welcoming! I am very eclectic and cluttered but so be it. I guess that's my style! Hugs!

I love the combined look too. Your table might be the same one we just bought. It's still in the box until we get moved into our new house. :)

Love the table and your dining room, a pretty mix of styles keeps it fresh. Have to laugh, when you reach our age (sounds bad) you've tried every style that's come down the pike. I don't think I could do hanging macrame plant holders or harvest gold appliances ever again! ha ha, xoxo Deb

Sounds like you and I could have been roommates. I had it all, too, except for the southwestern- I could never quite get into that look. I am pretty traditional now, I think...but could easily go shabby chic again...without too many flounces and ruffles though.
Have a great weekend. Love to you- xo Diana

It's a French farmhouse look and I love it. Yes, we all have our styles change over time and change again. :)

Hi Sissie,
I agree, with staying true to ones style, I always see you in your style with a bit of tweaking here and there. As for a chip in the shutter, it's would not bother me as well, it only adds to the charm of Farmhouse style.
Your table is a perfect piece in your upstyling to a farmhouse mix with a bit of a French feel, and I love the tufted chairs. Always beauty found here in your style... I am off to catch up on what I have missed in your previous postings.

Beauty and inspiration in all that inspires you.
