We Junkers are always on the lookout for good stuff. Of course while on our quest for something amazing we have good days and bad. Every now and then you hit the mother lode.....
Like finding a raggy old box full of vintage crocheted lace and dreamy old linens....
Then you have to decide what to do with them.
You wash them in bleach and a lilac scented soap then remove them from the dryer all nice and clean and fluffy. Then you walk into a room, see the mannequin and decide to dress her in your new found treasures....
Then you want to keep them even though you planned to sell them.

Then you take a gazillion pictures trying to get the perfect one...well at least one that will look decent on your blog.

Now I realize that not all of you get this excited over vintage crocheted lace, but I know a number of you that share my passion.

Gorgeous! You must keep these! Old linens speak to me, doilies, tablecloths, napkins. But so do lots of other things. :)

ReplyDeleteOh how funny, I was just gifted a huge box of vintage crocheted doilies from my husband's grandmother. They were all handmade by his great grandmother so they've very special. I've been wracking my brain trying to come up with some good projects for them so the timing of your post was perfect for me:)

ReplyDeleteOh, Sissie, I adore lace! Vintage especially but new as well. My niece has taught herself to crochet and she is busy making all kinds of lovely doilies. My grandmother once crocheted a table cloth/bed spread and I would love to have it. It is now in my cousin's possession. Some folks think lace is too granny-ish but I like to think of it as being feminine. And nothing says feminine like lace. I think all we lace lovers would agree on that.

Wow! I would have to keep these until after Christmas - I see too many possibilities to use them in decorating. I never pass on abandoned crochet orphans.
ReplyDeleteoh how funny you are!lolol....I have them all over the house, not hidden but hanging in doorways softening those harsh corners, over chairs, odd windows, etc. I use them, there is nothing like taking those beautiful fluffy dry beauty out of the dryer and finding the perfect place for it...yes!
