It's called barkcloth. It's a cotton fabric, sometimes with rayon and linen, with a special weave that gives it a nubby texture reminiscent of tree bark. It's the epitomy of vintage and I now have one!!! Dianne scored this one, (along with a few more) at an auction. So naturally, I just had to have it. Ooh, I love it, it's so 1930's retro.
Another great find is this.....a concrete garden lady...
I got her from another booth owner who said her neighbor had put it outside for trash pickup!!!! Why???
Peggie and I found the most wonderful "Shabby Chic" shop today and I bought this really cute memo board. It's made with wallpaper and chicken wire and has cute painted clothespins for clips.
I love it!
And, this wonderful mercury glass container....
I want to thank all of you for the input on this little desk/vanity.
A few of you booth owners suggested to try it in my booth and
if it didn't sell, then consider repainting it. I'm giving it a try before pulling out the paint brush again, for the sake of saving time and energy.
I kinda like her better when paired with the little shabby vanity stool.
You all had the greatest idea and it's good to know that when I asked for your help, you are always ready to rescue! You're the best!
I'm linking with Common Ground's Vintage Inspiration Fridays.
Be sure and stop by because Debra's and Linda's. They have some great stuff to show us.
