Everything old is new again....or something like that....

Hi Bloggerettes!  I don't know about you, but I stay in an amazed state of wowzer after reading all of your blogs!  I think I'm on "inspiration overload," but I wouldn't have it any other way.  Now, that being said, let's talk about ugly furniture.  You know the pieces that you see that were part of a matchy matchy so called "suite" of furniture.  The pieces that are left over from the honkin big bedroom suites that are filling up the used furniture grave yards!

Well, this is one of those pieces.  It was dark wood and absolutely boring.  I thought it would make a great side table or a great table for a flat screen (if you must have that sort of thing in your home!!!!LOL).  But it had to be redone.  I even heard it saying, please take me into the current century!
It was sanded and primed.  I used about four coats of
Benjamin Moore's Chantilly Lace.
I then used my mouse to shabby it up.

Since there was this empty shelf on the bottom, I thought a basket might just make it look better.

I took these pictures in my garage so the backdrop isn't so good.
A bloggers gotta do, what a bloggers gotta do....I know you understand.

I think it looks pretty good.  Now it will go off to one of my booths to see if anyone else thinks it's nice enough for their home.

Sissie, the side table looks fabulous. Would never have guessed it was once a dark, boring piece. It will sell in no time!!

Sissie you have such an eye for picking a piece and making it fabulous! I would love this in my room. I think I need to get some paint!

Diann said...

Sissie, that turned out just lovely! I have been looking for a nice shabby white paint. I am going to have to look for this Chantilly Lace!

Sissie, I just recently sold 2 of those, one I picked up free at the curb before it hit the old furniture grave yard, good luck

It's gorgeous! I like the handle painted white too. I wouldn't have thought of doing that. The vignette on top is really pretty too!

Beautiful, Sissie! I need to find a paint comparable to Heirloom White that comes in a quart size. I was at Home Depot today and wound up getting the spray paint, again; one of the people there told me it doesn't come in a quart size. I'll have to keep this one that you use in mind.

I know what you mean about matchy-matchy furniture. When I bought my bedroom furniture a while back, I had to buy it all that matched because that's how what I liked was sold. As you can guess, it's rather boring and predictable, so I'm in the process of adding some painted pieces to the room to break the dark wood up. I'd paint it all, but painting rather new good wood would be crazy.

I'm sure there will be somebody like me who will look at your new piece and love it so you'll probably sell it quickly!

I really would love to come and see your shop. Your pieces all look so calming, peaceful, graceful and timeless. Perfectly shabby chic. Then you come to my place and I have bright colors, shiny reds and aqua. Heck I even have a deer hoof mirror. Oh but if you remember, that is shiny white paint ....... though can't call it peaceful unless it is rest in piece Bambi. That we have different things, makes it so much fun to visit. Have a good week.

Hi Sissie. You are unbelievable. Making and restoring all these furniture pieces. This one looks beautiful again. I love this one. HAV

Sissie, you just amaze me with your energy....guess it helps to be in a warmer climate (assuming you are) so that you get out into your garage to sand and paint. Wish it was warm enough here. I think I'm going stir crazy if you know what I mean.

I think your big hunk of love'n furniture looks great. I would put it in my house.

Love checking in on your blog everyday to see what you have done.

Great job Sissie! I love the color and the basket. I will have to keep this in mind for the two night stands in my son's room. They are currently painted black and he has them pushed together and is using them temporarily as a desk.

It's just too darn cute - it will sell right away, we're sure! Painting different pieces of furniture always leaves us with another question....which piece is next - ha!!

Goodness, I better get caught up myself into this century. You have two locations now for your booth? Awesome!

Guess what Sissie, I am opening a store and I'm so excited. I will still keep my booth. You can see pictures of it on my blog today.
I am looking for items to sell. If you know of anyone who wants to ship goodies out to my store to sell, please pass my name!

Loving all that you and I do.

Hi Sissie,
I love your new/old side tables.. I had two black side tables in our bedroom and a year ago painted them white and distressed they look as good as new again but only white..
It truly is amazing what a can of white paint and a little elbow grease can do...
Have a sweet day and big hugs, Elizabeth

Just coming back by to say thanks for stopping at my place and leaving the sweet comment.
Yes, I KNOW you love white...and I don't know anyone that does WHITE better than YOU!!

The Polka Dot Closet said...

Sissie, I think people come to our booths looking for white and shabby, I don't think I have ever sold anything brown. It was just that everyone said "Oh you can't paint that " I will let you know how it goes.
