Coastal Elegance and Beachy Decor

Hi Bloggerettes!  Most of you know that I live on the coast of North Carolina in a small beach community.  When you live near the sea you cannot help but add coastal decor to your home, or at least, I can't.

I try not to overdo it with the coastal look.  A little goes a long way.

I've used a photo of my livingroom many times for my blog header.
Sorry if I am wearing-it-out.

We get lots of vacationers and visitors here all year round.
So, painted cottage furniture is really popular with them.
At Miss Minnie's we make sure that we have our booths
stocked with lots of cottage and beachy finds

This year, aqua blue has been very popular....and I am so glad that it comes in a spray can!!

These blue chenille pillows went out the door!  Yippee!

I enjoy living here but I'll always be a mountain girl at heart.  I was
born and raised in Appalachian West Virginia and if all goes well with the real estate market this fall,we will be selling our home here and moving back.  But, of course the home sales aren't so great right now.  I have faith that our day will come.

Okay, that's it.  I'm going blog-hopping and have been known to be gone for hours at a time!

~~hugs~~

Hi there Sissie,
Ooooh! I just love your mermaid, and have never seen one like it before! I too love the coastal look, even though I live in the Midwest! But we live on a lake, so I guess that counts, too! I also adore the gorgeous aqua that is so in right now, and have been painting lots of stuff various shades of it for my etsy shop lately. Loooove your chenille pillow, too!

Love your beachy cottagey decor and I love seeing your living room! That tray with the cloche is very pretty. I'd love to live where you do, Sissie! And you're looking to move! : ) We had our house on the market last summer and came off for the holidays. I think we'll wait until spring 2011 and try again. Although we have no plans to move totally off Long Island yet, I really wish we could as it is so expensive here. My dream would be North Carolina.

I'll never tire of seeing pictures of your home, Sissie. I love the coastal look and it gives me ideas for the lakehouse. Your booth is pretty also, I spotted a few things I'd take with me if I were there.

I wish you the best in your plans to move back home. You are in a gorgeous place, but home is home! :-)

Ah, yes, the grass is always greener. We would LOVE to move out of California, well, I think I would more than my hubby. Tennessee is my choice! We'd be neighbors!!! But like you and everyone else, especially here in CA, the housing market sucks for sellers . . . . so we're stuck.

I would love to be able to visit your booth!!!

We never get tired of seeing your lovely home, Sissie! I too am a coastal girl as I live on an island; Prince Edward Island, home of Anne of Green Gables. I love seashells and the warm sand between my toes. We so look forward to this time of year when we can get to the beach. We practically live there this time of year! Your mermaid is a very cute and unique lady.

Blessings,
Sandi

Hello~~~your mermaid is very pretty. I LOVE anything beachy! Your living room is so gorgeous, I could never tire of seeing it.
We tried selling last year, but the market here is awful as well. It all turned out okay though...I'm loving being on the water more than ever before.

Beautiful, I have an antiques booth and chenille pillow always flys out the door. Another big seller is when I make aprons from vintage chenille.

Very pretty beach items. I'm a beach lover, having grown up there, but we're close to the mountains and try to get up there as often as we can. I hope your house will sell and you'll be able to go back soon :-)

Marcia

Oh i do love a bit of a beach theme and would love to try it here at Greystanes but as I have said before it would seem a bit silly when we live on top of a mountain. Maybe one day...

Oh Sissie, I love everything as always, but my heart stopped at that mermaid. If you get a chance, could you tell me more about her? Her style matches the one my daughter got me for Mother's Day and I would love a companion piece to complement her in another part of my room. Mine is by C2C Designs, is yours?

btw, I call her my shabby chic mermaid, lol.

Living on the coast, I see lots of lovely beach decor. And right about now, it's a refreshing sight.

Do you think all this excessive heat is the Earth's tryout for the part of Hell in the play, END TIMES?

Hi Sissy! Where in coastal NC? I'm in Morehead City, near Cape Lookout. My whole house is nautical, and as you said, a little goes a long way. I have mine pretty well blended now. Was wondering, have you ever found nautical chenille bedspreads anywhere? Oh, and LOVE the mermaid!
