Hi Bloggerette! It's time for Stephanie's of Angelic Accents Annual Wedding Party! So get ready to see some lovely, romantic wedding charm.
I didn't have a big wedding, nor a really fancy wedding gown, so today, I shall live vicariously through this lovely wedding gown found at a yard sale!
I would have chosen a pink bouquet like this one.
Our wedding took place over 37 years ago on May 24th. My dress was very simple, but pretty. A friend of mine made it from a pattern I found. I was so in love that I would have gotten married in a feed sack! LOL!
This is my wedding dress. I wore a big yellow hat and carried a bouquet of daisies. Daisies were all the rage in the 70's. (not that I'm that old or anything)!
Remember the giddiness and excitement you felt that day???
In all seriousness, it's really not about the dress. It's about the commitment to one another. It's about trust and respect. It's about being there for each other in sickness and in health. It's about not giving up when times get rough. It's about becoming comfortable with each other as the years go by. It's about give and take and
growing old together.
Be sure and stop by Stephanie's Angelic Accent's Annual Wedding Party....you're gonna love it!
~~hugs~~
Sissie

You summed up a happy marriage very well! We are celebrating 25 years in December! I think it just keeps getting better.
The wedding dress is pretty, as is yours. Very different but both very pretty and dreamy! Love the bouquet, too!
XO,
Jane
Hello from one 70's bride to another....I carried a bouquet of daisies and wore a simple dress! Sissie, I think we are siblings separated at birth!!
Carol
I keep forgetting to tell visit after visit, I love your blog header!
Carol
I carried carnations and daisies. My china has daisies. I had a pretty gown...still have it...but it isn't anything like what the girls have now. And yes, I remember vividly the happiness and giddyness of that day! It was wonderful and still is!
Hi Sissie,
I got married in the 70's too and didn't have the white wedding every girl dreams of. Parent problems prevented me from having my dream wedding but I did marry my dream guy! And I got to wear my favourite colour, pink, and carried white roses. My dress also had daisies on it around the empire waist just like yours! I picked a pattern I loved and my friend made it for me. And here we are, 39 years later, happier than two bees in the honeycomb! Love your dress, BTW!
Blessings,
Sandi
Oh Sissie! I just told someone I was married 35 years and then realized that I have been married lomger than that. I was married 8/16/75..and I had a simple cream colored lace dress made by GunnySax and I sewed small blue daisies all around under the princess seamed bust...and we got married on a river bank in Alva, FL...ps..I wore flowers in my hair! xo Diana
Hi, sweet Sissie! I adore your wedding dress ~ I had daisies in my wedding, too. Yep, we are 70's hippies for sure! You must be living right to find such a pretty gown at a yard sale! Your thoughtful words and lovely images are just perfect. Thanks so much for joining us at the Wedding Blog Party and for sharing your heart!
Love,

So, what are you doing with the thrift wedding gown?
Sissie, we just celebrated our 25th anniversary this week, so your words have special meaning for me! And I really love your wedding dress, much more than the one you found at the yard sale!

Gorgeous dress and bouquet! What special memories :)
Hi Sissie, I love both dresses but I really love your dress as I can relate to the "70's" look. Love it!

Sissie,
I love both dressed that you shared with us today.
Your wedding gown was chosen from the heart and was something you really loved! I adore the yellow accents!!
The other wedding gown is stunning also but it is a sign of the times where weddings have become such a production!!
I like the simpler times!
Hugs,
Debbie
Hi Sissie,
What a beautiful dress! I love your dress with the yellow accent and daisies. I got married in 73 and I do remember daisy favorites.
You are so right about the real meaning of a wedding that will follow you throughout life. All the gorgeous dresses and decor can't compare to real love and commitment.
Beautiful post and thank you for sharing.
Thank you also for stopping by my recent posts too and your kind comment. Always so special to see you.
Have a great weekend.
Hugs from Texas, Celestina Marie
I was an 80's bride! I love your wedding dress with the daisies -- you should post a pic of the hat if you have one! Sounds just perfect! I wonder why someone would sell a dress at a yard sale?? Well you're score on that one! Thanks for posting your lovely story!
Beautiful photographs, Sissie. I can't believe you found such a beautiful dress at a yard sale!
Sissie I think your original gown was darling. I actually could picture you in it. Your yard sale find is also beautiful too.
The pink flowers you chose look very similar to what I carried on my wedding day.
Great party and I love yours so much better than the party I put together
Love
Maggie
Lovely post and so true. I have to tell you that my daughter would choose your wedding dress over the one you first posted. Vintage is all the rage and she wants a yellow wedding with daisies. So pretty! Thanks for sharing.
Enjoyed your post, Sissie. Your dress was beautiful! The big hat and flowers probably set it off perfectly!
Sissy Girl...I love your dress and the yellow band and the daisies. Back then it seemed more about the ceremony than the 'wedding'. Know what I mean?
I sometimes miss the simplicity of it all.
xoRebecca
Dear Sissie, such a beautiful post, and beautiful thoughts of yours-- and your dress was sweet, and so lovely-

I have something for wedding dresses. I would love to own many. Just for dress up and pictures. I love pink roses. My favorite too. Beautiful post!

Hi Sissie!
Such a sweet post! I love your wedding dress and especially the buttons on the sleeves! I imagine the yellow hat and daisies very lovely!
A joy stopping by to visit with you!
Kindly, Lorraine
Marriage is bliss! If you have respect and work really hard at it!
Gorgeous photos!
Ciao Bella!

Yes you are right on Sissie!! Hey I love that daisy dress, so charming. I made all of my bridesmaids get the same hairdo that Bo Derek had in "10", as it was all the rage. Haha! So funny! But that was long before I did it right with Mr. Maison Decor of course!
What an elegant daisy adorned dress, Sissie. Daisies are so sweet in bouquets. It is so true, marriage is about loving & holding forever, regardless of the little bumps & bruises ... together.
Today I think there is too much hoopla rather than the beauty of simplicity & focusing on the love ... don't beat me up over this comment, ladies.
Love to you sweet friend.
Hugs,
Marydon
Hi Sissie, Congrats on 37+ years! I love your wedding dress and your flower choice. I am really surprised that there was no pink in your gown though! LOL.
Hugs,
Sherry
Sissie, I LOVE your dress & the thought of the big hat with the daisy boquet. That wedding gown you bought at the stunning. I WISH I had found it as I have really been looking for one! My hubby & I are going on 40 in October & you hit the nail on the head when you shared What Marriage is REALLY about.
Thank you for stopping by & leaving such a sweet comment about the pillows I bought in Oklahoma City. They are soooo very cute in person.
Have a beautiful weekend. And if you decide to sell that dress you bought this week.... LET ME KNOW!!!! hee hee. Charlene
Very well said Sissie! Both dresses are beautiful too :)
Blessings,
Marcia
I think your wedding gown is lovely! You're so right that it's about the commitment, not the dress.
Love both the dresses and yours is wonderful I can see it with a big hat! So charming! Great post! Hugs Marilou
Sissie~ If that dress (the cinderella type one) is an Eve of Mylady... I believe that was the gown I wore in my first wedding back in 94...
AHHHH!!
Beautiful posts as always!

I agree 100%. What a gorgeous post and pics! I love your wedding gown, and my daughter had daisies at her wedding last year. They are her favorite flower.
Congrats on your 37th anniversary!!

Your 70's dress is perfect...and you are right, it's not about the dress anyway. And daisies are awesome! Thanks for sharing!
