Script Image Silk Flowers and thoughts of spring....

Have you seen these pretty silk flowers with the script images.....

I love them.  Found at TJ Maxxs.

I have Spring on my mind and have been listening to the birdie's singing in the mornings. This inspired me to make a pillow for my booth.  The Graphic is from Graphics Fairy.

I added the tweets.

Okay, a new week starts now.  So get out there and create, write, photograph, paint, repurpose, sew, craft and find something wonderful and share it with all of us.

Subway Art Pillow....

Not much going on, just making pillows and painting stuff for my booth.  I thought I'd try a subway art image on some drop cloth fabric.
It turned out pretty good....
The image is from Graphique etsy shop.

Love how this one turned out too....

I now have both panels up in the living room.  I'm loving this new look.  Some of you asked about the name of this fabric.  It's Braemore Garden Toile Aqua.  $16.20 per yard from On Line Fabric Store.

Gabby has a new friend.  "She doesn't say much Mommie, but at least she doesn't eat my treats!"

Hope ya'll have a great weekend and find lots of good stuff.

No use crying over spilt paint.....

Spilling paint isn't always a bad thing, seriously.  I picked up this charming frenchee chair at the Habitat store.  It had some ugly mauve colored fabric upholstery and I knew it had to go.  However, removing the back cushion was going to be a job.

So, I started painting the frame with the upholstery intact.....

Then I accidentally spilled some of the paint on the fabric and well.....it looked pretty darn good.  So I did what any good junker artist whose worth her weight in gold would do....I painted it!!!!

The paint is Behr's "blush pink."
It's not sticky or tacky.  It's actually very smooth and looks like
a really good quality oil cloth.  I did add a coat of clear polyurethane to protect it and add durability.

Who knew a big spill could turn out so well....

Oh, by the way....I also made this cute french image pillow.

I also found this really cute retro ottoman in pink!!!  Now how lucky is that......Notice how everything is "cute."

So, there you have it.  No use crying over spilt paint. I've heard of fabric paint but never tried it and this seemed to work really well.
I might even try it again on another project.

Blogging Buds Never Dissappoint!

Hello all you creative ones!  My goodness but you never dissappoint.  I love it when a question is asked and you all give the best answers.   Ain't blogging wonderful!

Just about everyone agreed that I should use the toile panels by themselves, so I did just that.....

Ya'll are so good.

Sometimes we just have to blog about it to get it right!

Thought I'd show you a few pics of my booth.
I love this shabby, chippy terraium/atrium thingy....

While I'm rambling I might as well show you this wall in my bedroom.  I'm trying to create a vintage kind of wall gallery and I'm not sure how it's going to work out.  Keeping the frames dark instead of painting them white, is a new thing for me.
Not sure if it will stay or go.  I'll show you the entire
section once I've put it together.
Okee dokee....movin along here.  I bought this mirror from another dealer.  It's made of metal....yes metal !  I'm opting for a small section in my booth highlighting some industrial chic and this is perfect.
This is before I painted it with oil rubbed bronze.

As you can see it's got lots of rust and scratches.
I like a little touch of rust, but not the scratches

So here it is with the oil rubbed bronze paint job.
I'm lovin all the curves and curls.

One more thing before I go.  I made homemade biscuits for dinner on Sunday.  Fried Chicken, asparagus and macaroni and cheese.
Mind you it is rare that I do a complete homemade dinner.
My family thought something was wrong with me!

Izz wish Mommie made me cheezeburger....

See you Sweetie Pies later.

Toile in the living room.....

Oh my goodness....somebody stop me!!!  Remember when I showed you this little garden stool...

I said that one thing leads to another and I was still trying to decide if I liked this color in my living room...
Well, one thing leads to another.....like the creme colored panels that I made and hung....
Did I stop there.....oh no!......I've had my eyes on this toile fabric forevah!  I ordered three yards just to see.  I made one panel and I love it..........

Now the dilemma....should I keep the creme colored with the toile?
When I look at the photos I'm thinking that it's too much.
This is where you decorating divas come in.....should I use the toile panel alone?   Amy?  Kathy? Kim?

Now....on to this.......I saw this and knew it would be perfect....that is of course, if I decide to keep this color scheme going.....

Shut. Up.....this is cute!

Remember, the toile panel is missing in this photo.  I'm waiting on the fabric.....

So there you have it..... More changes in the livingroom.
There is more going on inside the bookshelves too.  I plan to show you that later.

Okay, that's it.  Get out there this week and make, sew, photograph, write, paint, re purpose and find something wonderful and share it with all of us.

A sweet little lamp.....

I picked up an ugly little lamp.  It was painted blue, green, yellow and orange......ughhhhhh!  In fact, it was so ugly that I didn't dare take a before photo of it.....would have scared y'all too death!
But, it had little cherubs on it and the shape was wonderful.  So, out comes the heirloom white spray can.....

The shade is a Walmart number....can you believe it.  It's the prettiest blue/gray color.....

Don't you love sweet little crowns completing a pretty vingette....
The little paper crown was created by Rosemary at Roses Petite Maison.

Okay, that's it.
Get out there this week and make it a good one.  Create, sew, write, photograph, paint, cook, repurpose or find something wonderful and share it with us.

Cute Little Foot Stool.....

"Put your little foot....put your little foot.....put your little foot right in...."  Or, in this case, put your little feet right up!  Silly.  I know.

Found a very plain and mundane footstool that had seen its better days....so I slapped on a little paint, sanded, added some glaze.  Then covered it with a vintage grain sack.....I. Feel. So. Creative!

Ain't this the cutest dang thang....

Love this grain sack....

This vanity mirror used to be a very drab color and it just wasn't making the cut.  So, some nice bright white paint and a little shabbifying makes it worthy of a pretty dressing table.

Loving these frog jar lids....

I took the little stool to the shop today and it sold right away.
Ya just never know what's going to go flying out the door.

Okay, everyone have a good weekend.  Hope you find something wonderful.

Window Panels on the Cheap and Inspiration from the Shabby Chic Diva!

I have been trying to decide what to do with the bare windows in my livingroom and I think I may have found a solution.  When I asked Betsy Speert, the famous designer who now has a blog and gives advice on Tuesdays, she suggested that I add sheers or soft colored panels.  So there ya go.  There is no guarantee they will stay very long but for now....I'm liking them.

These windows are tall so I can only do single panels. Each panel takes 3 and a half yards of fabric.  Silks from Pottery Barn are $100 plus and a toile fabric I liked was $26. per yard.  So......while browsing through Walmart's crafts department I found a silk shantung for $6.00 per yd.  I was surprised to find such a nice fabric however, they only had one bolt with about 8 yards left.  Sold!!!
The color is a soft cream and they do add a softness to the room.

I'm leaving the shutters for some additional texture.  Who knows, they might be gone by tomorrow or the next day....

I'm thinking about ordering a few yards of  toile and adding it to the tops but that's another post.

I did not sew these panels.  There was just too much fabric to fool with so, I used iron on seam tape.  I just turned down and pressed all four edges and used clip rings to hang them.
Easy Peasy!

My next project inspiration was provided by you know who....
Just look at that soft pink table......sigh....

Here's my version.
I found this (what used to be a dark and ugly) table at Habitat.
Painted it a color called Delicate Blush by Behr Ultra.  #150E
I waxed it with AS Clear Wax.
I'm still debating whether or not to distress it or to add a glaze......um....

Doesn't it look pretty with my toile panels.....

Sadly, I won't be able to keep it.  It's destined for my booth at Miss Minnie's.  I have come to terms with the fact that I can't keep everything!

Okay, that's it for today.
Get out there and create, make, sew, paint, photograph, write, repurpose or find something wonderful and share it with us.

The Gals are off to the Party!

It's time for Polka Dot Closet's Dress Form Party and Ball hosted by the very sweet and talented Carol.  She's got the ballroom all ready for our debutantes so let the pageant begin.  Your carriage is waiting....

I'd like you to meet Katherine.  Isn't she pretty.  She's named after my Grandmom who was quite the fashionista.  She had the heart of a gypsy but held fast to family and God and was the very best Grandmom in the whole world....  The military boys will love dancing her around the ballroom!

Next meet Helen Gray.  She's loves to make a fashionably late
appearance.  All heads will be turned when she arrives at the Ball.  She's very stylish and sophisticated  and is  never seen  without her jewels.  She's flirty and frilly.....yet, simple couture is her motto.

This is Hope, named after my Mother.  Very nostalgic, yet very feminine and youthful...and a very old soul at heart....
She will have all the gentlemen gazing her way.
Gotta watch her around the bubbly!

Lady Anita Man got nothing on these chicks.  So step aside Anita cause these gals are gonna shake things up a bit.

Oh yeah, by the way,
Emma decided at the last minute that she was going to the party.
She has a tendency to over dress but somehow manages to look  fabulous...

Okay, we are off and hope to see you there!!

I'm also joining Coastal Charm's Nifty Thrifty Tuesdays cause theses gals are always looking for a good bargain.
