Home Sweet Temporary Home

Home Sweet "Temporary" Home....

Well here we are and I thank each and everyone of you for your well wishes, kind and encouraging comments.  I'm so glad that you are coming along with me for the ride!

We've rented a cozy townhome while waiting for our house to sell.
It's tighter living quarters than what we are used to but for now I'll do my best to make it a home.

As you can see I brought along a few things like the sideboard that I've had for a hundred years that got a white paint job nearly eight years ago.  The small, drop leaf table is from Pottery Barn and the accessories have been collected over time.
Rather than put nail holes in the walls I decided to just lean some ornate and shabby frames.
Gabby and Gizzy aren't sure what to make of their new surroundings.
Gizzy just wants Gabby to get out of the way so she can see what's out there.

That's it for now.
I hope to be back later in the week and show you around some more.
In the meantime get out there and create, make, sew, photograph, write, read, repurpose and find something wonderful and share it with us.

~~hugs~
Sissie

This must be quite a wonderful adventure for the cats! They probably wonder what the heck is going on :) It will be fun to live in a small townhouse for awhile--less to clean, try to have some relaxing time :)

I'm right behind you Sissie!! A lot of change has happened in the last few weeks and I'm moving too! I'm sure mine will be temporary also! Us girls have to make it feel like our home, regardless and you do that so well! Your style is freshly beautiful! Have a wonderful and blessed week~~~Roxie

That's wonderful that you found a cozy a little nest Sissie! Even if it's temporary, I'm sure you'll have it feeling like home in no time:) I've been doing the "don't put too many holes in the wall" thing also, not just because we're renters but because it makes it so much easier to move stuff around...which we all love to do so much!

The kitties look so cute! I guess they need to explore their new environment! Everything looks so nice! I'm sure you'll be happy there. At least, you're surrounded by some of your things and it looks really cozy!

While we were having our current home built, we lived in an apartment for the 8 months it took. I enjoyed having only the things I needed there. I decorated it in my mind before the move, and stored everything else in storage units. It made things so much simpler when we moved into the new house. This was in 2000, before my first husband passed away. He too, enjoyed the convenience of apartment living. So, just enjoy where you are, and take your time to decide what you want. Can't wait for more pix! Have a great Sunday.

Your new temporary smaller space looks lovely with your decorator touches. It is the journey that is to be enjoyed...

I'm sure that they feel at home wherever you are. And you could make a home out of a cardboard box! Doesn't it feel a little liberating not to have to do anything permanent? I'd feel that way. Glad you're settling in!

Hi Sissie, I completely understand your situation because I´m moving myself by the end of this month to a "temporary" home ´till our new house is built (from 10 months to a year, they say) and I´ve been thinking a lot about making this temporary place as homelike as possible, because we simply cannot put ourselves "on hold" for a whole year (as I have done before in similar situations!) I think now that CARPE DIEM means also enjoying the place we are currently living in, whether it is our dream home or not... So I wish you the best in this new house and be sure that your brave spirit and exquisite taste is very inspiring, at least for those of us who are going through the same.
Hugs,
K.

Sissie, wherever you make your nest, it is always pretty and you put your stamp on it. The kitties are so cute and I'm sure they don't quite get it but as long as you're altogether, they'll be happy. Thanks for keeping us up to date.

Blessings and hugs,
Sandi
