Not Too Shabby....

Hi Bloggerettes!  I've been so busy all week that I just realized I haven't posted anything new for an entire week!!
This week I seem to be running into all things shabby, romantic, chippy, frenchy and lovely.
I just happened to spy these lovely Shabby Chic pillows in a thrift store.  They were dirty and the stuffing was a mess.  I took them home, washed them and gave them new inserts.....look at these pretties now!

They sure blend in well with my vintage white pillow shams.  I might not be able to give them up.

My plan is to create a "shabby" display for my booth, but I'm not sure I can say goodbye to these just yet.

I bought a sweet ladder back chair from another booth, (thanks, Gloria) and just loved the way she created an image chair cover.
I plan to show you hers a little later.

I experimented with making a little cover for this chair...

Crown image from Graphics Fairy!
I think this will fit in well with my Shabby theme.

I also found the cutest little pair of pink ruffled tie back curtains with ruffles galore.  Had to have them for my shabby theme.

The pink mercury glass reproduction candlesticks will be going along also.

So far, so good.  I think it's starting to come together.

I've been working on some pillows this weekend.  So, I think I'll throw some burlap, lace and french inspiration in with the mix...

I love this sweet little lamb image pillow....

Okay, that's it for now.
So get out there and create, make, sew, paint, photograph, repurpose, cook, write or find something wonderful and share it with us!!

Still have more yellow paint!

Hi Bloggerettes!  Still continuing with the yellow!! And, I'm glad that it's back in my life!  I used to decorate quite a lot with yellow and have several upholstered pieces in the family room.
I found this little plain white chair at the thrift.  All it needed was a new cover.  So, I puffed it up a little and added yellow toile that I ordered from fabric.com.

By the way, sense you asked, this yellow paint color is called Daisy Yellow by Lowe's Olympic paints.  It is from the line called Del Sol energetic.  I also use the mocha glaze which is also available at Lowes.

Then, while my paint brush was still wet, I slapped some yellow paint on the seats of these handpainted chairs.  They were a green color that looked a little outdated.  Voila!

These two chairs flank the entryway table.

These upholstered chairs have been in my home for many years.  They now reside in the family room.

I also went through a pear loving period!

I found this heart shell mirror in another booth.  All it needed was some more seashells.  Now it's all beachy and happy.
Picture is not so great, but you get the idea.

Okee dokee, that's it.  Get out there and create, make, sew, paint, cook, draw, write, decorate, repurpose, photograph and find something wonderful and share it with us!

Vintage Luggage!

Hi Bloggerettes!  It's been a busy and very hot week here but never-the-less the hunt must go on for stuff to fill up the booths.  Right now all the beach goers are here and they are buying up everything in site!!!  It's a good thing but it's also very challenging to keep the booths filled with things they love to buy.

I bought a very cute luggage rack from another dealer and a few minutes later I found these at Habitat!!

Definitely a throw back to the 60's.  Lovin the green!

The metal label reads "Sears"

Going to the booth.

I told her that she had to wear a costume....she didn't like it.

More Yellow!!!

Hi Bloggerettes!!  I'm still on the yellow painting kick.  No bare furniture escapes my mad paint brush and itchy fingers.....

Found this tray table like this....kinda boring, but it had potential.
I almost forgot to take a "before" picture, that's why there is paint on the bottom.

A lot of yellow paint, some mocha glaze and sore knees and voila!

I also used a rubber stamp with some french epherma...

Speaking of voila!  Get a load of this gal....baby's got back, oh yeah!

Found her just like this and thought about painting her. Maybe stenciling her seat, but then decided she looked pretty good just the way she is.....

She really likes my burlap and lace pillow.

Okay, that's it for now.
I'm working on some other projects that I hope to share with you soon.  Everyone stay cool and keep those ideas and inspiration coming!!!

I want to welcome all my new followers too.  I hope to get around to each and everyone of you soon.

My latest color crush!

Hi Bloggerettes!  Well, I've gone from loving everything blue and painting everything blue, to loving yellow, soft yellow...

Like beautiful baubles and starfish in a shell bowl with a hint of yellow mosaic tiles....

The yellow love all started when I re-hung these silk gold and cream colored panels in the family room...

Since you can see the livingroom from the family room I repainted the once gray sofa table a soft yellow.  I used a mocha glaze to give it an antique look...

The yellow table now looks prettier with the yellow curvy couch and the golden yellow toile pillows....don't you think?  Yes?

This little pedestal table used to be white, now it's soft yellow.

So, for now, I'm lovin yellow.
Hard to tell what it will be next week, or next month, or even tomorrow!

What color are you lovin now?

Okay, now get out there and create, make, sew, photograph, paint, draw, craft, redecorate, read, repurpose, or find something wonderful and share it with the rest of us.

Inspired to Carry on because of you!

Hi Bloggerettes!  Isn't life wonderful, especially when you are a blogger and have so many wonderful friends!!!! Just thought I'd share that great feeling I'm feeling today.  I feel so blessed!

My inspiration.....inspired to carry on because of you....

This beautiful pink floral fabric spoke to me.  It looks as though someone painted it like a canvas.  It's so beachy and summery.

So many of you commented about my nightmare chair.  And, it seems as though you felt my pain and had similar experiences redoing furniture.
Dore from www.burlapluxe.blogspot.com suggested that I let the chair tell me what it wanted to be, and believe it or not, it did!
Thanks Dore!!!

Remember the before and the not so great after.....
Well, how do ya like me now????

She spoke to me and said, " I want to be cottage, beachy and shabby all in one. I want to be pretty!"
I think she's ready for her debute.  Whew, what a relief!

She's now Gizzie approved!

I made these silk panels for my family room, hung them up for one day and took them down.  Now, their back up again and I think I'm liking them.  What do you think?

Okay, sweet ones that I adore.  Have a wonderful weekend and thank you so much for all of your support and wonderful comments.
You are all such a clever bunch.  I adore you, you know.

Bed Crowns!

Hi Bloggerettes!  I've been day dreaming about pretty bedrooms ever since I found this lovely bed crown.  I started imagining what if.....
Here's the bed crown....
And here's the inspiration rooms....

Oh, how I want this painting!
Love all the pretty and different choices of fabrics used in this bedroom.

I took the bed crown to my booth at Miss Minnie's and it sold the next day.  Darn.  I wanted to keep it!

Okay, gotta go work on the nightmare chair!

Not So Nifty, Thrifty.....

Hi Bloggerettes!
Did you ever buy a piece of furniture that you were darn sure you could transform and make beautiful, and it turned into a nightmare???
It looked so simple.  I knew it had potential.  It was going to be easy....NOT !!!!
Here is the culprit.....

Ugly and in bad need of a redo.

Well.................I started sanding and nothing was happening.  The old paint would not come off!
Then I decided to prime it to see what would happen.  At first I thought the paintbrush was worn out because the paint looked all gobby and messy and then the paint started peeling!   Then, I realized that someone had done a bad crackle treatment on it and the crackle medium was coming through!

Anyway, I  attempted to remove the primer and it wouldn't come off, so I said a few choice words, okay a lot of choice words, and did I mention it was 100 degrees in the garage!!!

The "thing" still looked awful.
I finally turned to spray paint and then sanded and added some antiquing glaze.  I still dislike it.

I was so mad at this chair that I didn't take the time to add more padding to the pitiful seat.  I just started stapling the fabric on wanting it to go away.

Where is Miss Mustard Seed when you need her?
She would laugh at this one.

My chair should have looked like this....

Or this...

Or this...

Why am I blogging about this, you ask.
To let off my frustration and to ask if this has happened to you.

I've learned that it's never a good idea to continue working on a project that drives you crazy.  And to never get in a big hurry just to get it done.

I think that I will spray it a metallic silver, plump up the seat with some fiberfill and recover it in a gray and white fabric. Add a ruffle and maybe stencil the back of the chair with an image.

When I get done with this nightmare of a chair, I will have spent three times the amount that I paid for it!  Oh well, live and learn.

I just removed it from the room and took it to the garage.
Maybe it just needs some time out.

What would you do with this little tramp????

Stay tuned, I will be back with a redo of the redo!
She had better straighten up or else!!!

Okay, get out there and create, make, sew, cook, draw, paint, write, photograph or find something wonderful and share it with the rest of us.
