Loving French Gray

Hi Bloggerettes!  Are you a francophile? In love with all things french?  I'd say that quite a few of you are.  Doesn't the color french gray sound romantic and beautiful with thoughts of Paris and L'Avenue des Champs Elysees, (the most famous street in Paris)?

Peggie and I decided that this little vintage cabinet screamed for "french gray!"

We first gave it a base coat of a cream color, then a soft gray and a darker blue gray that was watered down.  We then sanded it heavily to get the vintage/antique look.  Don't you love it?

The little birdhouse got a dose of french gray too.

While the paint brushes were still wet we went to town on this piece.  It was an absolute mess and the darkest ugliest brown you've ever seen.  Even the door fell off and the glass broke when we carried it inside!  Oh, well looks better without the door!

It got the same paint treatment and now it's "french gray!"

Pretty um????

This little vintage bench got a new cover of pink fabric.
And the heart rose wreath was freshened up with some
lace and millinery flowers.

As you can see, we've been busy, busy.
Our booth is full and we are ready for the spring break shoppers.

Hope you enjoyed seeing what I've been up to.

Oh, and by the way....I love and adore each and everyone of you!

~~hugs~~
Sissie

Hi Sissieness! Love it. That is a sweet soft color. Can I ask a question? After you've painted your pieces, do you put anything on them to seal them so they won't scratch?
Be a sweetie,
Shelia;)

Thank you, thank you! I was just looking at a little antique table my mother gave me years ago. It's looking banged up and not so pretty ... now I know exactly what to do with it!

Your 'grays' are wonderful. You transform so many pieces of furniture - the work never stops. I am about to (ok, hope to soon) start to paint furniture and wooden smalls. I've got the drop cloth, a sander, a sanding block, the paint, the brushes and the furniture. Today was sunny and ... maybe tomorrow ...

You said to had some burlap or other colors. Well I made up a burlap pillow with a french graphic on it and it sold immediately, you are a genius. Now I have to make up more!!

I love the french gray too. Things I paint gray don't seem to sell here too well yet. I don;t think the new "fad" has become popular in this neck of the woods. It's hard because we're a small town and trends tens to come in slowly. Not everyone reads the blogs like we do to see the latest things! So I've temporarily packed away the grays and pulled out the aqua that sells so well. It's sort of our signature color. Black always sells well too, but one gets tired of painting everything black! The cabinet looks great without the door, it really stands out!
