Peggie and I decided that this little vintage cabinet screamed for "french gray!"
We first gave it a base coat of a cream color, then a soft gray and a darker blue gray that was watered down. We then sanded it heavily to get the vintage/antique look. Don't you love it?
The little birdhouse got a dose of french gray too.
While the paint brushes were still wet we went to town on this piece. It was an absolute mess and the darkest ugliest brown you've ever seen. Even the door fell off and the glass broke when we carried it inside! Oh, well looks better without the door!
It got the same paint treatment and now it's "french gray!"
Pretty um????
This little vintage bench got a new cover of pink fabric.
And the heart rose wreath was freshened up with some
lace and millinery flowers.
As you can see, we've been busy, busy.
Our booth is full and we are ready for the spring break shoppers.
Hope you enjoyed seeing what I've been up to.
Oh, and by the way....I love and adore each and everyone of you!
~~hugs~~

I love gray too!! I always forget to use it when I'm creating something I always go back to the white. You've impired me.
Hi Sissieness! Love it. That is a sweet soft color. Can I ask a question? After you've painted your pieces, do you put anything on them to seal them so they won't scratch?
Be a sweetie,
Shelia;)
I'm working on a piece of furniture right now that I'm giving a gray finish. I was planning on calling it French gray, darn it, you beat me to it! lol :)
Thank you, thank you! I was just looking at a little antique table my mother gave me years ago. It's looking banged up and not so pretty ... now I know exactly what to do with it!
Gorgeous!! yes, I am in love with french grey!!
Your 'grays' are wonderful. You transform so many pieces of furniture - the work never stops. I am about to (ok, hope to soon) start to paint furniture and wooden smalls. I've got the drop cloth, a sander, a sanding block, the paint, the brushes and the furniture. Today was sunny and ... maybe tomorrow ...

Sissie, love the french grey and love your inspiration. Question - is the victorian ashtray for sell to ship (or only in your shop for sell)? what a great decor piece. Thanks, Gina

That looks great, Sissie! I'm really loving the gray lately. I think that is going on my list with Heirloom White and Black. I love it on furniture like these pieces.

The cabinet is a beauty in the French gray. I am just painting a piece in French gray...my first time painting something in gray. I love all of your pieces. Your new blog header looks wonderful, Sissie. Such pretty photos!
We love and adore you too! I have not yet gotten on the French grey band wagon, I have to give it a try, it all looks fabulous!! remember way back when you did a post about antique booth 101? You said to had some burlap or other colors. Well I made up a burlap pillow with a french graphic on it and it sold immediately, you are a genius. Now I have to make up more!!

Cindy
beautiful and very classy pieces!I love your photos!
Your instincts are right on! I can't get enough of this look. It just makes anything look french! And that's good!
I love the french gray too. Things I paint gray don't seem to sell here too well yet. I don;t think the new "fad" has become popular in this neck of the woods. It's hard because we're a small town and trends tens to come in slowly. Not everyone reads the blogs like we do to see the latest things! So I've temporarily packed away the grays and pulled out the aqua that sells so well. It's sort of our signature color. Black always sells well too, but one gets tired of painting everything black! The cabinet looks great without the door, it really stands out!
GORGEOUS Sissie!!!! I love these colors mixed and the beautiful, distressed look!! I would so love to poke around in your space ~ don't you love giving old furniture a new look?? I hope you are doing wonderful sweet friend, hugs and love, Dawn
