That's so "old hat!"

Hi Bloggerettes!  Yep, my blog is all about "old hat!"  You know, passe, out-of-date, faded and aged......the stuff we love!!
I'm talking about old hats, vintage hats....an old hat box full!

A sweet friend found these and she thought I'd like to have them.  Thank you Margie!!!

Played around with a photo editing program called
Photo Scape....this is the antiqued  application.

These hats were really small.  Most were labeled Lord & Taylor, New York.
No way they would fit my fat head.
Only one of them fit me.
Love the old millinery rose on this one....

Did you love trying on your Mom's hats when you were a little girl?

I'm trying to finish up some projects found at auction on Friday night.  I'll show you everything as soon as I finish them.

So get out there and create, make, sew, paint, repurpose, find, write, photograph something beautiful and share it with us!!!

                                                 ~~big hugs~~
                                                     Sissie

Those old hats are great, Sissie! Sometimes I wish hats were more the norm today. I think you look cute in that one! : ) I'd love to find some floppy old hats for when my granddaughter gets a little older and we have "tea".

The hats are beautiful, Sissie! I had such a good time watching the Kentucky Derby and seeing all the strange but wonderful hats. It would be nice if it were more of a tradition to wear hats here, I'd like that.

Your picture editing looks great. I have never fiddled with mine, but just may someday!

XO,
Jane

Between the Royal Wedding and the Kentucky Derby, I have been seeing a lot of hats on Tv! I do remember a lot of hats my mother used to wear but I think she kept them way up on a shelf so I could not get my hands on them! lol~Hugs, Patti

I love old hats... I mean really, who doesn't?LOL! I used to have a small collection of them for my girls to play dress up with. Adorable! Every once in a great while I am able to add to a newer collection of them when I see one at a sale. Now they hang in my work room and some are used only for the fabulous millinery on them, while others have been used for Halloween and crazy hat day at school. Funny, what I call fabulous, my children call crazy! xooxo

Hi Sissie,
I have always loved hats; old or new! I'm fortunate that hats looks good on me too. You look cute as a button in yours! I enjoyed reading about your trip with your mother and sisters. That would have been so much fun! Lovely memories! Hope you had a lovely Mother's Day weekend.

Hi Sissieness! Look at all these lovely hats and you're so cute modeling that one!! Yes, I did love to wear my mother's hats and even had a few of my own. Being a little girl in the 1950s, I always got a new Easter hat and I saved them and played in them all the time!
How fun you have the Blue Garland dishes. My mother gave me these! She had them for years and continued to pick up pieces whenever and when I would find something in this pattern she didn't have - I'd buy it for her. When she downsized to the retirement home - she gave them all to me! I think they're so pretty! You know, for dishes coming from the grocery store - they're quite expensive in the antique shops now! :)
Be a sweetie,
Shelia ;)

Great hats! One of my favorite things to do when I was a kid was walk next door to my grandparents house. I would play dress-up with grandmas old hats, costume jewelry etc. There are lots of pics of me dressed in all her finery. I think that may have a lot to do with how much I love old things.

I've always loved hats but I look TERRIBLE in them! I just don't seem to have the head or the hair for them. I do have this beautiful old pink hat I bought several years ago in an antique shop. It just "spoke" to me and I had to bring it home. It hangs on the mirror in the bedroom we have for our granddaughter. I did wear it to school one day when we had HAT DAY and one of my students and I were featured in the local newspaper:) Happy memories.

My mother never had any hats to wear so I never got to play with them. I do love the vintage ones though especially with the pretty velvety flowers.
